<p>Rebecca Cerese is an award winning filmmaker who graduated from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a degree in Communications and English. She worked for Video Dialog Inc., a Durham, North Carolina based Production Company for over 12 years before starting her won production company, Shelter from the Storm Productions, LLC.&nbsp; Her first documentary is entitled <strong><em>February One</em></strong>, and it tells the story of the Civil Rights Sit-ins that occurred in Greensboro, NC in 1960 and served as a catalyst for the non-violent protests that would follow.&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong><em>February One &ndash; The Story of the Greensboro Four</em></strong> has screened at the King Center in Atlanta and the Smithsonian Museum of American History and the National Archives in Washington DC. The film had its National PBS Broadcast February 2005, to mark the 45<sup>th</sup> Anniversary of the Sit Ins.</p> <p>She served as co-producer of the documentary by Dr. Steven Channing, <strong><em>Durham &ndash; A Self Portrait</em></strong>, which tells the 150 year history of this unique Southern City.&nbsp; She also co-authored the commemorative book, <em>A Tradition of Excellence &ndash; A Pictorial History of the Watts School of Nursing</em>, which was published in the winter of 2006.</p> <p>Her subsequent film <strong><em>Change</em></strong> <strong><em>Comes Knocking &ndash; The Story of the North Carolina Fund</em></strong> tells the story of a revolutionary anti poverty program started by Terry Sanford in North Carolina in the early 1960s.&nbsp; <strong><em>Change</em></strong> <strong><em>Comes Knocking </em></strong>&nbsp;was awarded best documentary feature at the Appalachian Film Festival. She has produced two short films about domestic violence; one entitled <strong><em>Private Violence</em></strong>, which has been used to train advocates, medical professionals, law enforcement officials and others in the criminal justice field. Her new short, <strong><em>A New Kind of Strength</em></strong>, highlights the role men have to play in ending domestic violence.</p> <p>She is now working on <strong><em>Landscapes from the Heart &ndash; The Elizabeth Spencer Story</em></strong> and is currently developing a television series entitled, <strong>Exotic Pet Vet</strong>.</p> <p>She currently serves as the Vice President of the Peoples Channel, the public access station in Chapel Hill and Durham North Carolina, is on the Board of the Southern Documentary Fund.</p>
