Disabled but wants to work...

My name is Maggie Humbert, and I live in Appleton, Wisconsin. I am ashamed to say that I am just barely holding on these days. I am a Christian and believe that God allows trials in our lives to draw us closer to Him and to teach us, but I gotta say...please no more Lord! I really can't take much more.

What I need from you is your prayers and your ear (or eyes as it were) for a moment so that someone is witness to this miscarriage of justice.

        Here is my story...

I used to work at a hospital as an x-ray tech and was content with my life. Then I injured my back at work. Workman's comp took care of my needs during my healing time but once I returned to work I re-injured it again...and again...and again. The last injury occurred while I was working at one of the clinical sites connected with the hospital working by myself when there was supposed to be two techs and a file-room clerk. Doing the job of three people, I re-injured my back to the point of no return.

My leg became permanently numb and the neurosurgeons told me that I would be in a wheelchair with a year's time. They also tacked on to me a set of permanent physical restriction that omitted me from any type of gainful employment in the area of the country where I live. To add insult to serious injury, the hospital said that my injury was no longer considered workman's comp, that the pain in my back and numbness in my leg was all in my head, and then proceeded to walk me off of my job.

I conferred with a half a dozen attorneys and none of them would take on my case, and not because it couldn't be won but because they would not make a substantial profit from winning the case. Now I have to say that was a slap in the face.

With help from the department of Vocational Rehabilitation I am almost done earning my BSB in business management and only have four more classes to go, but don't have the funds to pay for them. I am seeking any help I can get.
