Dantes Rameau

Atlanta, Georgia, United States

I am a social entrepreneur using music as a vehicle to change the world.

I've always been interested in using my art to uplift youths and communities. This passion led me to discover El Sistema, a monumental youth orchestra and choir system that inspires social change through music in Venezuela.

Around the same time the New England Conservatory of Music announced the Sistema Fellows at NEC, a post-graduate training program for musicians who want to lead the El Sistema movement in the United States and beyond. As a Sistema Fellow I got to spend two months in Venezuela working within El Sistema.

In 2010 I co-founded the Atlanta Music Project, a non-profit organization that provides intense music education for at-risk youth right in their neighborhood. Led by an amazing group of talented Teaching Artists, the Atlanta Music Project serves 150 children everyday during school.

I'm thrilled that Aisha Bowden (Sistema Fellows '12) has joined the Atlanta Music Project to lead AMPlify, our new choir program. Help us raise $20,000 by supporting our IndieGoGo campaign to launch AMPlify clicking here: http://www.indiegogo.com/amplify
