Jen Frankel - Writer and General Busybody

I've always been something of a Jill-Of-All-Trades, but one thing never changes: I love to create things.

While my employment history has been spotty at best and eccentric at worst, I never stop wanting to tell create characters, imagine new worlds, and tell stories. If I can touch you or change your perspective a little along the way, I'm more than happy - I'm truly alive.

It's not easy to make a living as an artist, so I've done a lot of other things to make ends meet, including (things get weirder as the list goes on):

waitressing

copywriting

journalism

computer tech work

nannying

secretarial

sound design

video recording

pizza delivery

selling antiques

clerking at a science toy shop

nannying in the middle of nowhere for fishermen

chaperoning child actors

breaking the law to help my boss get arrested, and of course

breeding parrots

There's a couple more I won't tell you about, but they weren't illegal - in all parts of the world.

I've written music for a musical set in a small town gay bar and played a delivery girl turned unsuccessful stripper on stage. I've played in a basement band and fronted my own indie rock group. I've written and produced video for internet, festivals and television, and I've drawn and painted a lot of pictures. I like to think of myself as a kind of Renaissance woman, but that mostly means I wish I could play a game of Scrabble with Leonardo DaVinci. I think I'd have him, provided we could play in English...

Mostly, I am fierce in my convictions and as pure as I possible in my intentions. I follow my heart and my integrity even when it gets me in trouble. And I share my joy and my passion as much as I possibly can, every day of my life.
