Empowering Hawai'i's youth through arts programming
<div>We are 808 Urban, a collective of "community cultural workers": artists, organizers and volunteers committed to improving the quality of life for our communities through arts programming. </div> <div> </div> <div>Our arts programming focuses on a dynamic approach to addressing educational reform. Our cultural and political education give our team and participants deeper contexts to specific problems. The philosophy behind our programming places particular emphasis on mentoring youth, as we believe that they are a key component to systemic social transformation. </div> <div> </div> <div>Our art, storefront, events, and volunteer projects promote group learning and collective action. Our focus on artistic development and innovation gives participants tools to become public voices for their communities. Through our 808 Urban artsprograms, The Junior Board Initiative, The Community Murals Project, The 808 Urban Refuge, and HIstory Productions, we place particular emphasis on mentoring youth as a long term resolution to social transformation.</div>
