Go Nuts!

A native of Dubuque, Iowa, who grew up watching the classics and always rooting for the underdog, like his favorite - Newman in “Cool Hand Luke”.  Whether it was jumping in front of his dad's Super 8 or using the same 8mm to make his first film – a music video for “Coward of the County” with his cast of 90 YMCA kids -he knew then that no matter how many detours life brought, he would always end up in films rooting for the underdogs in life.  Arriving in California knowing no one, he began writing children's stories, songs, scipts and whatever other medium of writing he could imagine.  When his students performed a rap song he wrote in the Rose Bowl before Nancy Reagan and 25,000 other screaming kids and he was put on the LA Channel 5 News, he knew he had to get back to filming.  Along came Pasadena and Long Beach Cable Access, where he spent 16 years producing and interviewing over 500 guests in alternative/ conspiracy areas. Several later appeared on national TV,  such as Nobel Prize nominee Dr. Garth Nicholson discussing his cure for the “Gulf War Illness” on “Nightline” or 28 year FBI veteran Ted Gunderson speaking on the “9 / 11  Conspiracy" on “20/20”.Then midlife kicked him in the ass and he knew it was time to do whatever he ever dreamed of back as a kid in Dubuque.  He took up singing, stand up comedy and finally acting, which led him straight back to making films. He soon became a lead actor in several independent features and TV pilots, including  “A Better Place LA”, “Ninety”, “Conspiracy”, “Angels”,  to name a few, and on episodes of “1000 Ways to Die” and “Pit Boss”. After studying the casts and crews on various sets, he knew what he had to do – make films.  Making a cool underdog film would complete his childhood dream – to write, produce and direct a feature film before he turned 50. So he dusted off the script he wrote with his college buddy 20 years earlier, which was once represented by Jerome Siegal and Associates.  He rewrote, produced and directed “Ugly Shoes” , which was just completed in October 2011, the month of his 50th. birthday.  And now the film bug has caught him, and “Shadow of the Monarch” will be completed  in Summer 2012.
