Gina Moreland founded Habitot in 1992, and has served as its executive director since opening in 1998. In 2006, she was honored for her years of public service in creating Habitot with a Bay Area “Jefferson Award,” as well as with a proclamation from the City of Berkeley as “Early Childhood Champion of the Year.” She holds a Master’s degree in Education, a California teaching credential and a B.A. in Economics from Mt. Holyoke College.
