Elilta Tewelde was a social worker for over 13 years and is the visionary for Drum Beat Journey. A native of Eritrea, she immigrated to the US in 1981. From an early age she was exposed to various styles of African drumming and dance. She learned that drumming is an instrumental part of the African culture. Aside from working in social services, she has always been passionate about helping her community in the US and abroad.
