David has now become one of the most performed playwrights in the UK. His 26 plays have been translated into many languages, averaging around 1000 productions every year around the world. There's also a novel, a musical and two feature-length movies featuring his mad-cap detective, Inspector Drake. His spoof YouTube video “Doreen’s Story”, which satirised the benefits culture in the UK, went viral with over a million hits in just a few days, and went on to become a sell-out theatre tour.
