Biomedical research professor and musician, San Francisco

I'm a professor at the University of California, San Francisco, with a lab that studies heart attack treatments, blood vessel growth, and harmful effects of cigarette smoke. I also play violin and sometimes timpani in the Peninsula Symphony, and have published several arrangements for string quartet and for percussion ensemble. Earthquake safety is a special interest of mine; I give presentations about home earthquake preparedness and I write an earthquake safety blog, quaketips.blogspot.com.
