This is Lelac's 11th year teaching, her 7th year at KIPP. In that time she's won the KIPP DC Board Award and KIPP National's Excellence in Teaching Award, and she was named a semifinalist for TNTP's national Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice. However, she has never raised this kind of money before.
