After years in the ad game, I came away with a concise ability to focus on words, images, and themes which has suited itself very well for independent film.I'm a screenwriter first, I make sure the characters are well-developed with lots of psychological layers. Dialogue is never on the nose or mumblecore. I think subtext is the ultimate art of communication. There are no throwaway lines.As a micro-budget indie filmmaker I understand how imperative it is to do your preproduction work. Planning, plotting, and drawing now will save confusion and resources down the road.And...never short change post production.
