Rasha Azab began her career in theater and visual arts in 2000, establishing an independent amateur theater festival. She assisted filmmaker Manal Khaled in the production of her first documentary project in in 2008 and worked as a researcher for Egyptian feature films The Day I Ate The Fish (dir. Aida El Kashef, 2014) and Searching For Ahmed Abboud Pasha (2016). Azab has also worked in local journalism since 1999, focusing on culture journalism before moving to investigative reporting.
