Love's The Only Engine Of Survival

BAT COUNTRY IS DEAD - LONG LIVE BAT COUNTRY

For the past 5 years, over teh course of multiple line-ups, Bat Country has been Seattle's premier source for only the highest-grade "Doom Americana."

We loved and fought and created and destroyed together during that time, but what we were was broken beyond repair with the tragic loss of our friend and bass player Joe Albanese, who died in the violence at Cafe Racer on May 30th, 2012.

Bat Country cannot continue as a band, but we are lucky enough to have recorded basic studio tracks with Joe while he was alive, and have been working hard on finishing all the overdubs, mixing and mastering needed to create an album that we can be proud to present as a record of the time we had together and the love and craft and passion all of us put into this band. To do otherwise would be a disservice to the memory of the band and the memory of our friend.

However, with the band functionally over, we are not in a position to play live shows, which was our primary source of the money we could put towards a project like this.

Normally, we would not ask for help, but in this case we don't want to skimp on making this an album that is fittingly beautiful both in production and presentation.

Where The Money Is Going

Here is a rough breakdown of the costs we are attempting to pay with this fundraising campaign:

$1000 - Remaining costs of recording, mixing and mastering.

$1500 - Cost of professional CD replication and packaging for a run of approximately 500 copies of the album.

$500 - Payment of album artwork creators and miscellaneous promotional costs.

If we don't reach our entire funding goal, whatever money we do make will go towards the remaining recording, mixing and mastering costs and we will find a non-physical avenue for distribution of the music.

To have an actual physical artifact in the form of an album, however, is extremely important to us in this case.

We don't ask that people give much - Every little bit will help. We are lucky to be part of a community of amazing, loving and talented people, but we also know that those 3 things don't often go along with lots of cash on hand. If you aren't able to give, please help us spread the word on this campaign and help us give Bat Country a suitably beautiful farewell.
