Alessio Cappelletti is an independent filmmaker originally from Rhode Island.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He has acted in various plays and five short films. He studied acting for a year at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan, which has contributed tremendously to his skills as a director.&nbsp; He studied film production and theater directing at Brooklyn College and was one of the resident directors for Mind the Art Entertainment's theater department, in Manhattan, for two years. He is currently a Founding Board Member, a Resident Director, Head of the Filmmaking Division, and was recently promoted to be Associate Artistic Director on their new partner project with fortalent.com as well as Artistic Curator for the new theater MTAE is opening in Brooklyn. Mind the Art Entertainment has had some very great successes: having multiple shows well received in the NYC Fringe Festival two years in a row and at the La Mama Theater, as well as having the honor to host the pre award reception for the 2010 Drama Desk Awards at Lincoln Center. There, Alessio was given the opportunity to have his own table to promote his upcoming feature length project "Dreams of the Youth", which attracted an astounding amount of attention. The president of MTAE, Christian De Gre, who also works with the UN and recently had his own musical produced at NYC Fringe by Executive Producer of the Drama Desk Awards, Robert R. Bloom, was&nbsp; a producer on Alessio's most recent short, "Broken Crayons". It was the recipient of "The Golden Palm" at the 2011 Mexico International Film Festival and an "Honorable Mention" at the 2010 Los Angeles Movie Awards, as well as, much praise from the president of Andrew Lauren Productions ("The Squid and the Whale" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367089/). Alessio has written and directed more than half a dozen short films, including; "The Glass Waltz", which premiered on opening night at 2006’s New York International Independent Film and Video Festival and "Restitution", which was chosen to be exhibited at the 2003 AS220 Providence Film Festival. He was also one of the two directors on the short film "The Masquerade-in Four Movements". He is currently submitting "Broken Crayons" to festivals while trying to secure financing for his recently completed feature length screenplay "Dreams of the Youth"."Dreams of the Youth" has had both production companies, big and small, show quite a bit of interest and recently locked Tanya Barringer (who assisted producer Bill Carraro on Matt Damon's film, "The Adjustment Bureau") as it's line producer, along with many other top crew members. He has also been featured in Newsletters from&nbsp; NYFEN (New York Film Exposure Network) and After-Set.com.<br>He has directed various pieces of theater including Keelie Sheridan's "A Woman in Progress", produced by Mind the Art Entertainment, which will have its world premiere at the legendary La Mama Theater in NYC in January of 2011. He has&nbsp; successfully coached actors, as well as worked as a director of photography, art director, assistant camera, camera operator, grip, etc. on various other films. <br>Outside of film and theater, he is an accomplished fine art photographer and spoken word poet. He has won the statewide Gold Key Photography Portfolio Award for his work in B&amp;W photography, as well as&nbsp; LaSalle Academy’s Art Leadership Award. His work in photography has been exhibited at various venues and most recently in NYC, where he was also invited to be a member of the Dutch Kills Gallery, though had to turn it down.<br>&nbsp;For poetry, he competed on the Providence Youth Poetry Slam Team in Los Angeles at the 2004 Annual Youth National Slam Competition and made it to the final stage with ten other teams. In 2004, he also managed and headlined a two month national poetry/hip-hop tour called “The Cabaret of Peace Poetry Tour” performing at major venues in such cities as Chicago, New Mexico, Seattle, San Francisco, Berkley, etc. He has been published in three different poetry anthologies and has a self-produced studio album out. He has also just recently appeared on a new independently produced hip hop album by rapper Berbarock.<br>&nbsp;He presently splits his time between New York City and Rhode Island.<br><br><br><br><br>
