WAR: THE HUMAN COST book & CD project OUT NOW

<p>My name is <span style="font-weight: bold;">Sean</span>, i publish and edit comic anthologies under the publisher name of <a title="Paper Tiger Comix" href="http://www.papertigercomix" target="">Paper Tiger Comix</a>. I am also the chairman of a community Arts group here in Brighton, UK called &ldquo;Community Arts Projects&rdquo; (<span class="caps">CAP</span>).</p> <p>I recently funded (with the help of IndieGoGo) a project called <a title="war the human cost" href="http://www.papertigercomix.com/?page_id=9" target=""><span style="font-weight: bold;">&ldquo;War: The Human Cost&rdquo;</span></a> which consists of a 260 page perfect bound book of comic strips and graphic art on themes surrounding war and conflict, based on real-life, factual stories &amp; accounts. There is also a 21 track music CD compilation accompanying the book entitled <span style="font-weight: bold;"><a title="War &amp; Peace" href="http://www.papertigercomix.com/?page_id=217" target="">War &amp; Peace</a> (listen to samples <a title="music samples" href="http://www.papertigercomix.com/?page_id=217" target="">here</a>)</span>. You can read more and buy the book (and others) here:</p> <p><a title="www.papertigercomix.com" href="http://www.papertigercomix.com" target=""><strong>www.papertigercomix.com</strong></a></p> <p><a title="www.papertigercomix.com" href="http://www.papertigercomix.com" target=""><strong><img src="javascript:nicImTemp();" alt="" /><br /></strong></a></p> <p>The <span style="font-weight: bold;">CD</span> features well known artists who supported the project, such as <span style="font-weight: bold;">Michael Franti &amp; Spearhead, Sly &amp; Robbie, DJ Spooky, Zion Train, The Levellers, Big Youth &amp; Twilight Circus, Blue King Brown, Groove Corporation, Bela Emerson</span> &amp; more.</p> <p>The book features the cream of underground &amp; up and coming international talent (<span style="font-weight: bold;">from 19 countries</span>!) aswell as well known, respected artists from the comics world (<strong>Steve Bell (The Guardian), Spain Rodriguez, Peter Kuper, Mack White, Aleksandar Zograf, Marcel Ruijters, Abu Mahjoob, Colin Upton, </strong><strong>Mark Stafford</strong><strong> and Mazen Kerbaj)</strong>. <span style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: bold;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: bold;">A whopping 67 artists were involved in just the book alone, 20 musicians were involved in the CD.</span></p> <p>The book and CD is a not-for-profit project run by Community Art Projects/ Paper Tiger Comix, and which is helping to raise money and awareness for <span style="font-weight: bold;">Campaign Against the Arms trade </span>(<span class="caps">CAAT</span>: <a title="www.caat.org.uk" href="http://www.caat.org.uk" target="">www.caat.org.uk</a>), aswell as raising awareness of other campaign groups such as <span style="font-weight: bold;">War On Want</span> and <span style="font-weight: bold;">Amnesty International</span>.</p> <p>Our aim is to bring people together, and look at the causes and effects of war. We believe, that it is through understanding, solid journalism and allowing different voices to be represented, that we can work towards peace and stand up against corruption and those who profit from death and suffering.</p> <p>The comic strips include well researched stories from around the world (<span style="font-weight: bold;">Tibet, Afghanistan, Israel &amp; Palestine, Liberia, Iraq, Uganda, Lebanon, Guantanamo Bay </span>etc) which cover everything from <span style="font-weight: bold;">human rights struggles, war veterans &amp; </span><span class="caps" style="font-weight: bold;">PTSD</span><span style="font-weight: bold;">, political imprisonment &amp; torture, child soldiers, refugees /asylum seekers, peace campaigners, the arms trade, corruption/ conflicts of interest, millitary spending, propaganda to humour &amp; satire.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: bold;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: bold;">The book has reviews and support from comic legends Joe Sacco (Palestine), David Lloyd (V For Vendetta), Warren Pleece (True Faith), Roger Sabin (Prominent UK Comics journalist &amp; lecturer), Paul Gravett (Prominent Comics Journalist, Author &amp; Curator of COMICA).
