I'm a former high school teacher who realized that many teens need a way to learn that traditional schools can't offer.

Before launching Open Road in the summer of 2012, I taught high school English for eight years in Brooklyn, NY and Gladstone, OR. The longer I taught in traditional schools, the more I felt constrained in my ability to help my students do and learn the things that really mattered to them. My desire to provide authentic, meaningful, truly important learning experiences for my students outgrew the limits of the institution. I am thrilled to be able to provide teens with learner-centered education.
