Labor (of Love) Day Match Madness
Beginning NOON Friday, September 4th and running thru MIDNIGHT Monday, September 7th Winding Road Theater Ensemble's Expansion campaign is motoring uphill, pedal to the metal. EVERY DOLLAR donated will be MATCHED up to $1000. Unlock the matching funds and send us on the next leg of the journey.
This Match Madness Weekend is inspired by the fact that producing excellent theater is a Labor of Love that involves the time and talent of individuals who provide artistic, administrative, marketing, fundraising and development support...to the tune of
260 HOURS/WEEK---13,520 HOURS/YEAR
This weekend you can give TWICE the LOVE with ONE donation. Support the efforts of our ensemble and the volunteers who sustain our creative enterprise. Every dollar counts. Thank you for your generosity.
About WRTE
In this, our seventh season, we have a new home, an expanded ensemble and yet another selection of plays to inspire and entertain our audiences. Our vision to sustain theater as a viable art form includes the offering of programs that not only inspire and educate, but reach beyond the population that we currently serve. To that end we hope to expand our education and outreach to include a space for the development of young playwrights.
We are enjoying the journey, changing, and learning as we go. We have added technical, creative and management talent to our ensemble to support our production and development goals. It's a very exciting time and your support will allow us to expand programming, build audience, continue producing works of inspiration, and keep a roof over our heads.
What We Need & What You Get
We are asking for funds to defray the costs of leasing, staffing, and programming. For several years WRTE has rehearsed in basements, living rooms, hallways, porches and sometimes rented temporary dwellings. Our new home, the ZUZI Theater in the Historic Y, will provide rehearsal rooms and a beautiful performance space, in addition to a large lobby and outdoor courtyard for pre and post-show functions.
Following is a list of expenses that your donations will help to support:
- Annual Lease for Space at ZUZI
- Match Funding for Development Grants
- Technical Director and Management Stipends
- Development of Young Playwrights Project
The Impact
WRTE has reached a turning point. While we could stay put and opt for normalcy, whatever that means, it would be unfair, not only to our patrons, but to our ensemble. We're in this for the long haul, we have a track record for producing excellence, and we want to share that with more people. We meet a need in the community not only through our production seasons, but because we offer an outlet for new and developing playwrights. Help us keep that alive.
We arrive at this season well prepared to meet whatever challenges lie ahead. The WRTE management has (collectively) 50+years experience in the performing arts field; our Board of Directors is action oriented and committed to growth and sustainability; our Ensemble is comprised of talented and dedicated actors, technicians and directors. We are on the right road.
