Wilfried Senoner, the artist and his sketches. A book including over 80 artistic sketches of the late Italian artist Wilfried Senoner.
My name is Marc Aaron Senoner and I would like to publish a sketchbook to honour my father Wilfried Senoner (1945-1999). He was an extraordinary artist from northern Italy, taught by world famous artists including Marino Marini, Alik Cavaliere and Francesco Messina. He wasn't just a painter and a woodcarver, he also designed church interiors, including 14-meter high altars entirely hand carved by himself and also released a political satire comic book called “Wirr Warr” while he worked for an architect in Germany.
In 1997 fate struck and a ski accident left him in a coma for almost one year. Against all odds, he managed to fight his way back to life, although sadly for much too short a time.
Since my father's passing I have collected an array of drawings and sketches that span his rather short but amazing career. He produced an incredible body of work that includes a wide range of styles, well almost every style (Gothic,Baroque,Art Nouveau,Modern, you name it). As some of his critics would later say: “He almost knew too much about art.” “His artistic eclecticism allowed him to not be influenced by what the tradition of that time suggested. His art resembles a dreamworld full of mystery and his avant-garde paintings were almost too modern for that time.”
I feel the time is now right to share his sketches with the world. You may ask, why now? Why his sketches? Well, the reason is that I see his works in a different light now, they seem to have a prophetic value and show me a side of my dad I didn't have the opportunity to get to know, since I was just 18 at the time of the accident. His fears, his hopes and his beliefs live on in his art and allows me and whoever views his creations to understand who he really was and the message he wanted to spread.
“The drawing is the most necessary art today!” Wilfried Senoner
His life was a struggle but his religious woodcarvings and frescoes allowed him to grant his family a decent living and still pursue his dream of having a little impact on this world through his paintings. He wanted his art to be an appeal to mankind; he wanted to somehow scare people, make them think by using their own minds. And yet, he desperately loved life and celebrated it with bright, strong colours to express his every emotion. What I Need & What You Get
Wilfried Senoner, the artist and his sketches, will be a unique compilation of sketches drawn between 1960 and 1980. It shows the journey of a young artist in love with art, who is desperately craving for knowledge and who is striving for perfection and enlightenment.
The final product will consist of over 80 drawings and sketches brought together in 30 pages as a limited edition hardcover book of 250 copies only. Keep in mind that these sketches have never been seen or exhibited before. You can view some of the sketches I might include by visiting my blogs: http://www.atelierwilfried.wordpress.com or following my FB page http://www.facebook.com/atelierwilfriedsenoner
My goal is to raise $10,600 to cover the printing costs on blurb.com, some of the shipping expenses and the site's fees. Over the next couple of months I will select the images to be included in the book; you can help me make the final selections by liking or providing feedback on what I post on my blogs. It would be a special privilege to have you be a part of this journey, which will allow others to learn, to find inspiration and make art more enjoyable and accessible to everyone.
If we happen to raise more than what I have asked, I would love to donate most of that amount to two of my favourite organizations: www.artforlife.org and www.helpugandakids.org. If the demand is very high then I will be happy to print more books, add more pages and donate whatever is left to as many public libraries and art schools as I can.
I can't do this without you! I will put all the money I've asked for into this project and as you can see I am willing to offer you incredible perks, because you deserve it all and I can't wait for this to finally happen!
Your once in a lifetime rewards include art prints, drawings, etchings, art books, portraits, little carvings and more.....
