On The Go Wireless Charging
We have had some difficulty getting the prefabricated components and boards for this project from the previous circuit manufacturer — our small order quantity, in addition to being delayed, were not to spec, which caused a safety concern, and we had to reject those components. Subsequently, we had to rely on a more reliable component service which was a little more expensive.
To ensure we didn't have any similar problems, we had produced small quantities of samples from several manufacturers and have found one which meets our requirements.
Some of you have already received the first few units that we had made from these small quantities, and we are glad that the unit is working out well.
We will be receiving the next batch of boards, components and housings from four different manufacturers and suppliers over the next 12 days or so and hopefully look forward to resuming delivery of the WiFlux then.

In order to keep up with the pace of modern power consumption, many resort to carrying additional power packs in an effort to remain connected in this wireless world. Portable charging in this manner seems like the stone age, especially when wireless charging and ultra thin lithium polymer batteries are already a reality.
WiFlux takes the concept of charging wirelessly a step further by creating a portable power bank that incorporates inductive charging and squeezing it into a card sized product.
Charging up a mobile device would be as easy as sticking the WiFlux Card onto the back of your phone. Its low profile and unobtrusive design would mean no more bulky power packs, no more cables, and no more mess.

By eliminating the need for cables and reducing the overall physical footprint of the portable charger, we seek to liberate the mobile device by making it truly wireless.
This is done by:
- Reducing the inductive charging base to the size of a credit card
- Integrating the inductive coil with the thinnest battery possible and charging circuitry into a package that is 5mm thick, or even thinner
The intended RRP of this product is USD 39.90 per set which comprises the WiFlux charging card and the charging receiver.
For now, two versions of the WiFlux charging system will be available.
- For the Samsung Galaxy (S2, S3 and S4)
- For the iPhone 4, 4S and 5
If we significantly exceed the funding goals of this campaign, we would be glad to extend the product further to include more devices. Focussing on a smaller number of mobile devices now, means getting the initial WiFlux card just right.
Proof of ConceptWe have carried out proof of concept tests with the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S2 to date. Devices successfully drew the 100mA minimum charge required from the WiFlux wireless charging card, and we are working out the necessary circuitry to fully utilise the 500mA coming from the receiver end.
The following videos demonstrate the initial tests carried out with the Mark 1 Mod 1 prototype of the WiFlux card on the iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S2.
- The WiFlux Card comes with built in 850mAh lithium polymer battery
- Charges via USB max 500mA at 5V input
- Minimum output of 100mA at 5V on secondary coil (receiver)
In the Package
The plan is to ship the WiFlux Card in a standard package that comprises the following:
- The WiFlux Card
- The charging receiver, which connects to the mobile device / battery
A mini USB charging cableWe have integrated the USB charging circuitry into the WiFlux card design
The first preproduction beta model of the WiFlux Cards are expected to leave the production lines on January 31st, 2014.
The first production model WiFlux Card should be available by February 28th, 2014.
Shipping is already included in the price of the perks.
We would love to see a more powerful built in battery, or super capacitors if it helped, in the WiFlux design. We would also love to accommodate more phone models in the WiFlux range.
