The Benton Main Street organization welcomes the Children’s Art Center to Benton and encourages all who hear about this permanent and valuable addition to our community to “Cover Our Kids”!
“We Are Marshall County and We Cover Our Kids” is a campaign designed to raise funds for a part of the original Children’s Art Center in downtown Benton that was cut from the budget due to lack of funding. The brick canopy is already designed and in the building plans and the $25,000 raised will complete that structure to provide shelter from adverse weather while dropping off our kids.
What We Need & What You Get
The Children’s Art Center is currently under construction and is the culmination of ten years of planning, fundraising and outreach. The Center has obtained grants, gifts, loans and in-kind contributions but still is short of its goal in its capital campaign. Accordingly, it had to cut the canopy from the construction budget. Happily the rest of the project is well underway and should be completed in early fall 2013.
For many years, the Marshall County Arts Commission has served the young people of Marshall County in various locations such as schools, city and county government buildings and private facilities. We are now so close to realizing the dream of a public community space dedicated to all who appreciate the value of arts education and experience.
Now to the Fun Part
There are many faces of Marshall County that we want to showcase as our own public art project, to visibly show the community commitment to the Arts Center.
People across the county will be photographed over the next few weeks and their images will be displayed everywhere throughout the county. Then at end end of our project we will host a GRAND REVEAL where you will be an honored guest! The REVEAL is scheduled for June 15, 2013 - more details to follow! There are a number of ways that contributors can participate even if they don’t want their picture taken and displayed. As a matter of fact, even if you can’t contribute you can help us get the word out!
We know that this will inspire lots of folks to think how they may promote family members, friends, pets etc. as worthy of praise for their accomplishments and pride for Marshall County and its dedication to the arts.
There are different levels of participation, each of which is awarded a Perk! As you can see from our Perks column, there are many fun ways to contribute and get some goodies.
Check out where you feel most motivated and tell your family, friends and neighbors about this unique way to show our pride and love for our kids.
Any funds raised in excess of our goal or under our goal will be used as the Marshall County Arts Commission may direct for the construction and operation of the Children’s Art Center so no money will go unused or unappreciated.
The Benton Main Street Program is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to bring together all segments of the community to foster civic pride, promote economic vitality and preserve and develop our cultural and historic resources.
