What is Watch Me Die & Why Should I Care?
Watch Me Die is a "found-footage" horror movie that documents the dirty deeds of a nameless serial killer who films his exploits. In a sense, the killer is the director of his own (snuff) movie. This is intended as a kind of 'meta' commentary on the very concept of a horror movie (we are living in a post-Cabin in the Woods world after all!).
That explains the 'what', now onto the 'why'.
We are living in the age of the PG-13. Movies for adults are a dying breed. Massive studios simply WILL NOT gamble with their millions to give you the edgy, original, and boundry pushing content that you desire. I aim to fill that void. This film, if you help us make it, will push the boundries of what can be show on screen. This is as independent as it gets. There will be no executives breathing down my neck to tone down this movie. If you trust me with your donations, I vow to make an uncompromising and unrelenting experience in absolute, flesh-ripping, gore-spilling horror. This movie will be as hardcore as it gets!
What We Need & Why You Want To Give It To UsMaking a film is expensive. A so-called "micro-budget" usually consists of $500,000 to $1 million dollars. However, I've designed a project that can be made for much less than either of those amounts. I'm asking for $20,000. That's not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it means EVERYTHING to this project.
Other Ways You Can Help
Times are tough and everybody is strapped for cash. Believe me, if I didn't understand that I wouldn't be on the internet begging for money. If this project appeals to you in any way, but you just can't afford it, we ask instead that you just share this video with some people you know - anyone you think might be interested in seeing a movie like this. We are gratefull for any support you can give us, even if it isn't financial!
Who Are 'We' Anyways?
Writer, Director - Thomas Banuelos: I am a lifelong movie lover (especially when it comes to horror!) who trained as an actor for eight years, before studying film for the last six. I am on track to graduate from Art Center College of Design's Film Department this winter. My training as an actor allows me to coax emotional, heart-felt performances from my actors. I've directed numerous short films and written a number of feature film scripts. This will be my first feature as a director. (https://vimeo.com/user2920301/videos/page:2/sort:date)
Producer - Marcus Cole: Formerly of the band Hellogoodbye, Marcus' former career as a professional musician has helped him pick up shrewd business skills. He eventually got tired of playing pop songs and embraced his taste for all things sick and twisted - hence, his association with this film. He is currently a student at Art Center College of Design. Director of Photography - Aaron Shapiro: Aaron is an alumni of Art Center. He currently works as a professional cinematographer. He has shot everything from music videos to narrative films to commercials. (https://vimeo.com/user3433534)
Cast - I'm already hard at work assembling a gifted cast for this movie. Already on board is the beautiful and talented Arielle Brachfeld, who has appeared in countless horror movies and is a bonafide scream queen. She's the lovely lady being stabbed over and over in our video above! (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2290733/)
