As a small town, self-taught photographer, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my work. Over the years, I have traveled across North and Central America documenting people, cultures, and history, collecting stories and life lessons along the way. But documentary photography is only one aspect of my work. Another, larger part is my work with models, portraying not just their beauty but also their personalities, working to convey the true essence of these women, presenting them as individuals and not just as pretty faces. Now I want to take all of the knowledge and skills I’ve accumulated and head to Europe. But to do that, I need your help.
With only my trusted friend Lola Agnosia coming along as a skilled and reliable assistant, the ultimate goal is not only to capture creative and beautiful images in some of the most magical locations in the world, but make a book offering a complete chronicle of our daily discoveries, hilarity, and setbacks that all trips of this kind involve. I've spent a lifetime studying European history and am clearly aware of the enormity of visiting and photographing these culturally rich areas. More importantly, after much work, back-scratching, and favor-calling, I have already arranged to work with several talented models in the areas we will be visiting.
SPONSORS-ONLY BLOG and PERKS
Every contributor at every level of donation will have access to the online day-to-day diary of the trip. This sponsors-only blog will include photos and videos documenting everything, from our preparations and behind-the-scenes events to finished images and even pages from my personal journal. As perks for your support I am offering everything I can, including signed prints, personal handmade photo booklets, life drawings I have done of some of my favorite models, your own personal photo shoot, and so much more. Look closely for the perks you like best!
BE A PART OF THIS JOURNEY
We can’t do this alone.
While we have been planning and saving our money for this trip for a long time, we are not there yet. However, we are not just asking for your support — we want to take you with us and we want you to be (and feel) involved. Not only are we offering some great and personal incentives, but we are hoping to keep an open discussion with our supporters throughout the entire trip. As we visit famous and historical landmarks and discover things no guide books could ever show, we hope to translate it for those of you who are unable to physically come with us. Do you have tips or a certain place along our path you think we should stop at? Tell us. We are more than open to suggestions and making your own personal desires come true. You will be able to ask questions, give advice, and comment on what we are doing via the sponsors-only blog. If you have ever wanted to explore Europe but have never had the freedom, you can do it with us!
Lola and I are both hard working, low-maintenance, and are used to roughing it and living simply, but we have many miles to cover. Most of the funding will go to actual travel costs as we move by plane, train, automobile, and occasionally boat across over 2500 miles of the European landscape, from London to Paris, Berlin to Prague, and finally to Rome. The closer we get to our final goal, the further we can travel and more places we can document. However, we are cutting costs in a variety of ways, from staying with friends along the way to blatant attempts at fasting, always limiting ourselves to only the bare essentials. The remaining funds will go into post-production of the book, including professional design, editing, and layout.
We realize times are tough. If you don’t think you can afford to financially help out, we completely understand, but there are other ways you can help: Please post this link on your Facebook and Twitter, as well as e-mail all your friends and family who you think might be interested in supporting us. Even the smallest donation will help us get closer to our goal.
Once again, your interest and involvement in this project is more appreciated than you could ever imagine. My photography started from nothing, from a dream in a small town where such dreams are rarely understood and often never realized. Thank you for taking the time to read all of this and get ready to come along with us for the journey of a lifetime!
