The Vaquita is the smallest of the porpoise family
and with only approximately 150 left in the wild,
is most endangered of the dolphin family.
In 2006, the Baiji River Dolphin
Became the first cetacean
to be driven to extinction by humans.
Unless action is taken soon
the Vaquita may soon join it.
In the summer of 2013 we plan to lead an expedition to the Sea of Cortez
to document the critically endangered Vaquita population in an effort to
help raise awareness of their plight.
Being a very shy creature,
not many pictures exist of the Vaquita
With the use of some of the most advanced scientific equipment
and the expertise of our team’s marine scientists,
we hope to bring the world some of the first pictures and video of the
Vaquita from within the waters of the Sea of Cortez.
With the images and data generated from this expedition, we will assist
local organizations in educating the local communities
directly responsible for the decline of the Vaquita population.
This IndieGoGo campaign offers you the unique opportunity
to directly assist in preventing the extinction
of a beautiful species from this planet.
Our rewards for donating are generous,
but they can’t come close to the reward of knowing
you helped this vital mission succeed.
We have some very attractive perks for donating.
