USA Luge Needs Your Help!
Did you know that the United States is the only country in the world that doesn't provide direct funding to its Olympic teams and athletes?
That's why as our team prepares to compete at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia we are in need of critical financial support to help them achieve their Olympic dreams.
Athletes like Erin Hamlin, the 2009 World Champion, trying to secure a spot on her third Olympic team. Hamlin is also a five-time National Champion who hails from Remsen, NY.
And Julia Clukey, who's overcome tremendous obstacles and is vying to compete in her second Winter Olympic Games. Julia hails from August, ME where she runs the Julia Clukey Camp for Girls every summer.
And Chris Mazdzer, who's on the cusp of making it to his second Olympics.
These are just 3 of the young men and women of USA Luge who need your help.
Given the challenging corporate sponsorship landscape, the time for an injection of new funding is now and the need is very real.
We've set a goal of $50,000 to help us provide much needed support to our team members. If we are fortunate enough to reach our goal, any additional money raised will go to things like improved training programs, new equipment or cutting edge technology.
Unlike other sports, where athletes are developed in youth organizations or local clubs, USA Luge has to identify athletes at a young age through a national recruitment process.
Finding the next generation of Olympic athletes, training and developing them and preparing them for international competition is a very long, laborious and most of all, costly process.
With your help, we can help our athletes reach goals they have strived for, sacrificed for and are now so close to achieving.
Without your help, it's much less likely that our athletes will reach the medal stand.
Your support of USA Luge will directly impact the young men and women of the USA Luge National Team achieve their goals and hopefully, bring home the Gold from Sochi!
In a sport that's timed to the thousandth of a second, our athletes are looking for any edge they can gain against their rivals from some of the world's sliding powerhouses.
Whether it's improved equipment, enhanced training opportunities or something as simple as adequate money to live on, USA Luge is seeking to raise the funds necessary to help them maximize their chances for success in Sochi and beyond.
