Two Girls on One Farm
We are two college students and best friends looking to learn more about sustainable agriculture and how to give back to the earth that provides for us on a farm. We have confirmed with a farm in Spain, outside of Madrid, called The Veguilla.
The farm has an organic tree nursery, an organic garden, a carpentry workshop, store, bees, chickens, and sheep. We will be learning about a variety of things including organic farming, beekeeping, and biobuilding. The farm also encourages engagement in endeavors such as pottery and cooking, making this an opportunity for both of us to expand our skills in our artistic pursuits: for Brittany, pottery, for Giselle, cooking (see below).

About the girls:
Giselle is a Stanford student with a passion for cooking and a love for the environment. She wants to learn how to really engage with the food she's cooking, and understand how to do so in a sustainable and healthy way both for her and the world she lives in.
Brittany is a student at Cal Poly Pomona studying agriculture with a focus in animal health science. She wants to take her interests and academics and apply them real time--that's where farming in Spain comes in.

We've both known each other for over seven years and partaken in community organizing within our own schools and communities. We are excited to learn more about the world we live in through the beauty and opportunity that Spain has to offer.
What We Need & What You Get
The total amount of $6000 covers airfare, equipment, Indiegogo's fee (4%-9% depending on funds raised), and food while in Spain.
Equipment includes: multipack backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, tent, hiking boots/socks/liners, camp stove, headlamps/flashlights, rainjackets, toiletries (biodegradable), sunscreen and bug spray, quick dry/farming/tropical climate clothes, camera equipment.
We are offering a variety of perks for donations, including:
- Video shout out, photo of the two of us in Spain, postcards during our trip, some of our fantastic food recipes, a postcard size painting by Brittany, a private dinner made by the two of us, a beautiful framed photograph of Spanish landscape, painting or pottery by Brittany.
All extra funds present after expenses will go towards raising awareness and community projects in our hometown of Monrovia.
This is an educational trip and endeavor. We strongly believe that our relationship with food and how we grow it and consume it impacts the environment and the world we live in. We seek to live in solidarity with the planet, and this trip offers us the tools necessary to start our journey.
By investing in our travels, you are investing in a greener world. We intend to document our experience and compile footage/images/journals once we return home, and share it.
Other Ways You Can Help
Spread the word and let other folks know!
Airfare miles - the airfare is the most expensive part of the trip, if you have any miles you wouldn't mind throwing our way we'd be grateful!
