Three Sessions

Three Sessions is a play almost three years in the making. The concept of the play was developed during a road trip to a theater festival in Fort Collins, Colorado. Two years of work followed, until the final script was finished in September of 2013. This piece is partly collaborative and based on a rough outline by Noah Snyder. All cast members have written at least one line of the play. Through various creative elements, Three Sessions is an experiment in writing. The play was written using a new technique developed by Mr. Snyder: the play-study method. When conducting the play-study method, one first has a thirst to learn something new about the world or oneself. That initial motivation and inspiration provide the subject matter and the writing process begins. Apart from this creative element, the play will feature original music and covers performed by Nefarious Purpose, an up and coming band from Los Angeles.

At its core, Three Sessions is a play about relationships. The play centers on power dynamics and frustrations within relationships, and the concessions we make to try and make relationships work. Additionally, the play addresses the influence of outside forces on an individual within a relationship.

The Cast

We have a VERY talented group of people working on this project:

Alex Bennett......as David

Samantha Whitecalf......as Martine

Emily Kirk......as The Waitress

The Breakdown

Three Sessions is going to need $1,500 in order to finish production:

  • We need a projector, which will run upwards of a couple hundred dollars. With projection media used in the show, the projector is a necessity for the production.
  • In order to rent the theater, we will need approximately $700 for the run of the show.
  • In addition to the big money items, we need funding for smaller scale elements such as wardrobe, paint, set pieces, and lighting gels.

We have a number of awesome perks for a variety of different donation ranges. They are posted below. Any contribution helps!

We hope to get our play funded completely, but should we not reach our goal of $1,500, we will utilize what we have to the best of our ability. We want to make this the best production that we can. With the help of our families, friends, and loyal theater patrons, we will succeed!

The Impact

As mentioned above, this is an experimental piece that utilizes a new style of theater writing. We aim to send this piece to the 2014 Los Angeles Fringe Festival. We have made it a point to rehearse and workshop on a regular basis from the beginning. Our initial run will provide some great critiques from the public before we start festival touring.

This is Noah Snyder's inaugural full length play. Academic goals in mind, he plans to submit the piece to several graduate schools, upon application. A successful run of this play will greatly increase his possibility of being accepted to a top-tier school.

Other Ways You Can Help

In this economy, we understand that people may not able to contribute financially, but there are other ways that one can help this project...

Crew Internship: We need people to help us run this show. If you have any experience in the theater running lights, sound, or backstage, please don't hesitate to get in contact with us! We promise a credit on your resume and a fantastic real world experience with professionals.

Website: We will most likely need a website for this production. If you are a tech wiz with a flair for the theater, let us know!

Thank you for your time. We hope to see you soon!
