The Tony Rahn Park Dugout Drive
Two fields located out on the Pease Tradeport have recently been dedicated by the City of Portsmouth to Tony Rahn, who was a great contributor and member of our community. He was a teacher, coach, umpire, referee and lobsterman who was very involved in our community and touched a lot of lives.
Unfortunately, we lost Tony last year to a very tragic event. In honor and to celebrate Tony’s life, Hayden Diemer, a Boy Scout from Troop 164 of Portsmouth, has selected this park for his Eagle Project. The fields currently do not have player dugouts to provide shelter and safety for players during softball games. Dugouts provide protection from the sun, rain, possible storms and foul balls.
As many of you know, Tony Rahn helped to start, Coach, umpire and volunteered a lot of time to the Portsmouth Girls Softball Association when it first began 16 years ago. Hayden has chosen the Portsmouth Girls Softball Association as the beneficiary of his Eagle Project to build four new dugouts for the two fields at the “The Tony Rahn Park”. This sizeable project will need a lot of fundraising support for materials and supplies in order to reach our goal of $7,000.00.
Your needed donations will help in funding this project for the Portsmouth Girls Softball Association (and all other users of the fields) to help improve the overall field conditions and safety at the newly dedicated “Tony Rahn Park”. Your tax-free donations are a great way to memorialize Tony and provide a safe environment for softball players of all ages that will be using these fields now and in years to come.
Hayden Diemer will be organizing and planning the construction of these dugouts for his Eagle Project and can use your help! Hayden will also be needing volunteers for building and erecting the dugouts on site.
If you or your business would like to donate to this project, please make your checks payable to: Portsmouth Girls Softball Association, and mail to: P.O. Box 8092, Portsmouth, NH 03802 or online.
