The Story and its Goal
Our goal is to make a compelling documentary about the Dundee Hurricanes, what makes this project different? The team is from Scotland. The Dundee Hurricanes are an amateur American Football team who lost all of their previous season games. Officially the worst team in the country with rising costs to keep the club afloat, the team are struggling to retain and recruit players. The new season finds the club with a new Coach, new found optimism and believe that they can reach their Holy Grail: The Play-offs. Only thing in the way, life, jobs and even family commitments. All of this for a hobby which results in players with broken bones and concussions which effects their relationships and everyday jobs. This film gives you an intimate insight into the players and coaches’ passion for the game and how they try to juggle life with their commitment to their team.
What We've Done So Far
Since October 2013, we have been filming the Hurricanes as they prepare themselves for the new season which starts mid April 2014 and we plan on wrapping production by the end of August, 2014. The footage we've captured looks amazing and really conveys the team’s story of brotherhood, adversity, and triumph in a unique and emotionally connecting way. The Teaser Trailer shown above gives a glimpse of what the final film will be like. Here is the film's official website: www.Buytheticketproductions.com
Why We Need your Help
Through our own means, and funding from local Business's, we have been able to film the pre-season games and training sessions. We've kept the production of the film completely independent, which allows us to maintain creative control over the final cut. However to film the rest of the season and to edit the film in the way the story deserves to be told, we still need to pay for other things:
Here’s what we need:
Petrol (were based in Fife, the commute from Dundee to Fife is a round trip of 62 miles)
Animated sequences by the motion graphic Artist Austin Temby (the film were contain animated titles and several animated sequences similar to this link: www.Austintranslation.com
Music (Were hoping to work with the composer Javier Suarez (jahzzar) on the score) You can listen to his work hear:betterwithmusic.com
Promotional and marketing materials (to spread the word about The Season)
Film festival entry fees for the film
If (when) We Reach Our Goal
When we reach our goal, like the driven athletes in this story, we’re going to set a new one. We will strive towards delivering this film in the most professional and compelling manner possible.
Other Ways You Can Help
We understand that some people may not be able to contribute financially. Another way you can help us make this project a reality is to spread the word. Word of mouth has been a powerful tool for us throughout this process, and when supplemented by the sharing power of the Internet’s social media… there are no limits for this campaign. Whether you are contributing financially or not, please share this link with everyone you know. Just like every Pound counts, so does every social media share.
