Intro

Hello to all the wrestling fans around the world. It is with great pleasure that I tell you about a documentary I wish to produce. "The Rich History of World Championship Wrestling"

Let me start by saying that out of all the great wrestling promotions over the years, my personal favorite has always been WCW. I always felt WCW was geared to more sport then entertainment. 1989 was the perfect example of that, as some of the greatest matches in wrestling history took place that year, most notably was the Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat classic battles, along with the intense Ric Flair vs Terry Funk classic matches.

WCW is loaded with rich history. A rich history of great pro wrestling, a rich history of some of the greatest wrestling talents of all time, a rich history of politics and controversy, and a rich history of lots and lots of money! WCW was truly a fascinating company for so many reasons, and I want to capture as much as I can of it in this documentary.

The documentary will feature a brief history of Jim Crockett Promotions, and lead to the eventual sale to Ted Turner in 1988. The year 1988-2001 will be the focal point, and trust me, there is an enormous amount of ground to cover. From Turner's acquisition, the nWo, the politics, the triumphs, the eventual demise of WCW and everything in between, I will put together a fascinating timeline of events for the talent to discuss.

About Me

As producer of this documentary, I take great pride in putting out a product I know fans would want to see. I would not attach my name to something if I didn't feel I can do it properly. I strive for perfection when I put my mind into something creative, and I have great confidence that this documentary will be the greatest retrospective look at WCW ever produced. Since this is a independent production, the talent interviewed for this are free to speak their mind and be as detailed as they want, without fear or censorship.

I have been a fan of pro wrestling since 1984, and consider myself to be a very knowledgeable student of the game, especially as it pertains to WCW, so rest assured as producer of this documentary I will put everything I have into making it as great as I can.

I have always been a fan of documentary film making, and have produced and edited projects for friends and family, so to say I am excited about putting together a doc on my favorite promotion, and sharing it with the world, is quite an understatement.

The Funding-The Talent

The funding is what I am here for. The funding is what makes this documentary a reality. I have in my head a tremendous blue print of how I want this video to be made, the timeline of questions and events to cover, the talent I want to interview for it, and the way I want to edit the final cut so it all flows nice. I've been putting this together for weeks now, and I promise that I will do my best to give you the greatest look at WCW ever produced.

Creatively, everything is all set on my end. All that is left, is to get the project funded and then make arrangements to meet with talent and record interviews.

I have a list of names in mind that will make this documentary a must see for all fans.

The more money the project raises, the more talent I can interview for the video.

The project only gets funded if the funding goal is met. If the funding goal is not met, Indiegogo refunds your money.

My Travel

In order to bring you a great documentary with a diverse mix of talent, I will need to travel to many different states across the U.S. When I look at the list of names I want to interview, they are spread out across many different states. This diverse mix of talent will not be under one roof, probably ever, so travel is necessary. I had the option to pay a lot of extra money to fly talent in (some require first class) paying for their hotel and paying for their plane ticket, and then also paying them to appear on the video....but in order to keep costs down, I figured it's better if I was the one who did the traveling and filmed the talent at a location near by where they live. In some cases, Atlanta specifically, I will be able to interview a few talent that live in the area.

I honestly do not mind the travel. I have such a deep passion for making this documentary, that I am looking forward to watching it all come together piece by piece.

Closing

Friends, the funding is the essential component in making this a reality.

Please support the making of this documentary. Tweet it, post it on Facebook, tell your friends, tell your grandma, tell everyone. I promise you all that this means a lot to me, and I will give all that I have into making this the greatest inside look into the amazing and controversial world of World Championship Wrestling.

QnA

Why are you making this documentary?

Please read the first paragraph for a more detailed answer, but simply put, I love WCW. I know many fans still love WCW, and I want to put together something that is informative and tells a great story. Thanks to the power of crowd funding, a great vision or idea can now become a reality, instead of just a dream.

When and where will the documentary be released?

The campaign will be open to raise funds until early February. Depending on how much money is raised during that time, I will start contacting talent to agree on a date to meet.

The rest of February-March and possibly some of April, I will continue to travel around the country to interview talent.

Late April-May I will begin to edit everything together, and have the dvd for sale independently through a website. I will also consider selling certian distrubtion rights to video companies that also wish to sell the dvd.

Perk Rewards

If for some reason you wish to not have your name listed in the opening or end credits, please make sure to let me know.

The dvds mailed out as part of the perk rewards will be North American standard Region 1 code dvds, so please make sure your dvd player is capable of playing those. People outside of American might have a different region code.

How many discs will the documentary be?

Well I can promise at least one :) But, there's a great chance it could be two. A lot of factors will decide that. How much talent I get for the project, how much content I have recorded, and what is the best way to edit it so that it has a great flow to it.

The bottom line is, I want to make this documentary the greatest look inside World Championship Wrestling.

Why Indiegogo and not Kickstarter ?

I received this question via e-mail and the gentleman recommended that I add this as part of the QnA.

It's simple really, I prefer Indiegogo. The support team has been very pleasant to speak with, there is a lot more freedom to launching a project, and the biggest reason is they easily accept Paypal from people who fund projects.

I launched one project on Kickstarter (non wrestling) and I just really wasn't thrilled with the whole experience. Seemed very "hipsterish" to me.

Here is a great list of reasons why some people prefer Indiegogo over Kickstarter
