This Indie Gogo Campaign is so I can get to the 67th Cannes Film Festival In France this May to represent our film "The Real Traygedy"! This film has been accepted into the Cannes Short Film Corner!
This film "THE REAL TRAYGEDY" is based around the tragic story of Trayvon Martin. If you don't know who Trayvon was or about this tragic event in American history then you should because it's important to never forget what happen to this 17 year kid in Florida. Trayvon was walking home one night from the store after he just bought his favorite candy and was suddenly attacked by George Zimmerman, a blood thirsty, armed neighborhood watchman that saw someone in a hoodie and was looking for someone to harass like he was the law. Zimmerman shot and killed young Trayvon Martin. He went to trail and got acquitted of murdering this innocent teen.
Regardless of being in the Cannes Film Festival, this film "THE REAL TRAYGEDY" is an important production so that we won't forget about this young kid Trayvon whose life was taking way too soon by George Zimmerman, who didn't get punished for his crime! This film speaks volumes to the injustice that was dealt during the trail. This film also makes a statement that this young kid in the hoodie that Zimmerman shot to death could of been any of us. It could of been your father, your brother or son. It could of been you! Hopefully, telling this story thru this film to the world, justice will be found for Trayvon and his family! I would like to be there at the festival to help tell this story of injustice in hopes that it never happens again!
It's also important to me as an artist and filmmaker to get to the Cannes Film Festival because the Cannes is one of the biggest, most prestigious festivals in the WORLD! Filmmakers, Directors, Producers and Actors from all over the WORLD come to showcase their talent thru their work! Cannes, France during the second week of May becomes a melting pot of Filmmakers from all walks of life! I was fortunate enough to have a feature film in the 66th Cannes Film Festival called FIVE THIRTEEN!
My experience at the Cannes Film Festival last year was a life changing event and an experience that I will never forget! It inspired me more than words can explain. Which brings me to my second great reason to go back. I want to film a documentary called Yes You Cannes that will educate, inspire and encourage other actors and filmmakers to go to the Cannes Film Festival regardless of having a project in the festival. I met filmmakers from all over the world that I look forward to working with in their countries in the future! I learned that work as an actor reaches way beyond Hollywood and that film making is not limited to United States. I want this documentary Yes You Cannes to be a resource tool for all types of film makers and actors of all walks of life! This documentary will show you what your in for and educate you on the best way to go about attacking the Cannes Film Festival! It will show you what exactly goes on out there and why it's so important to be there! It will inspire artist for years to come to make their way over seas to pursue their passion in the Art of Film! It will encourage you to take your craft and the world in your own hands and not to wait for a phone call from your agent or manager. If a Trini Rican from New York living in LA with no family can do it than so can you! But I can't do it without you!
What We Need & What You Get
So I mentioned that I went to Cannes last year for the movie FIVE THIRTEEN which was a multi-million dollar feature film that had Executive Producers paying for everything while I was in Cannes. It was directed by Kader Ayd who is from France so we had a lot perks and things taken care of because we were on his home turf. I still paid for my own plane ticket which was really expensive. I was fortunate enough to make there and back but unfortunately this year in Cannes will not be the same VIP treatment along with no additional sponsorship.
This year I will be representing a short film that we shot with no budget, which in a way is more the reason to get out there and blow this film up! I'm looking to raise an ambitious goal of $8,500 by May 12th.
This funding will cover travel to Cannes, France as well as room & board for a full week. Funding will also cover expenses surrounding the actual Cannes film festival, like getting into and filming various events during the film festival. Funds will also be used to rent professional film equipment and to pay a skilled DP and film crew to shoot the "Yes You Cannes" documentary for the full week while in Cannes. None of this is cheap, especially when traveling over seas!
Myself of all people know you don't get something for nothing...lol so I've came up with some incredible perks for all the donators that help me reach my goal. I'm giving away everything from signed movie posters to VIP tickets to screens of my films to free gymnastic classes at Gold Medalist McKayla Maroney's Olympic Training Facility to a Professional Photo Shoot to a Jet Pack Adventure to a Speaking Cameo in one of my movies to Producer Credits and Executive Producer Credits that will show up on IMBD.com as well as in my "Yes You Cannes" documentary credits! I started the donations as low as a $5 because every dollar helps to reach the goal!
I Thank You in Advance for your Generosity! I Really do Appreciate your Love and Support!
If you can't donate financially then you can still help by spreading the word, and making some noise about this by posting on Facebook, Tweeting and emailing all your friends and family about my campaign!!! If there's fashion stylist out there that wants to help out by styling me for largest red carpet in the world than please reach out! If anyone has airline flight deals or miles theirs willing to donate that would be a great donation as well! There's all types of ways to help and support! Thank you again!
Make sure to use the indie gogo link so you direct them straight to my campaign page!
Remember....Team work makes the dream work!
God Willing....Hands to the Sky....I will make it there!!!! God bless and Keep Shining!!!
