DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
The Impact Diverting Helmet System is a groundbreaking redesign of the football helmet that can significantly reduce concussions in the game of football.
This quest started over five years ago primarily out of concern for the children playing a game many of us once played as kids. No one seemed to have a viable solution to the growing number of concussions that was happening in the NFL; and if concussions were happening in the NFL; then based on the laws of averages, concussions must be a problem at the collegiate level, high school level, community leagues; and at the pee-wee levels of the game of football.
And it is our passion for the game and for the safety of the children, that we would not rest until we found a solution to the problem of concussions in the game of football. and our answer to concussions is The Preventer.
Our mission is to help players by reducing concussions at every level of the game of football. The Impact Diverting Helmet System designed to absorb the energy from a collision starting at the point of impact; and then further reduce and redirect any remaining energy, until the most violent collision to the head in the game of football, can feel like nothing more than a mere patch on the back.
Now that our design phase is over and our patent is pending, we would like to take the next big step forward towards a new generation of football helmets. This is a year long project and we need your help to build the first prototypes for testing, optimization for production and global distribution.
One of the problems with football helmets in use today is that they attempt to absorb the energy that results from a collision after the fact; and the energy that the padding cannot absorb continues on a direct path to the brain.
Our dual-core redesign of the football helmet will offer eleven layers of protection; that will absorb the most damaging amount of energy starting at the point of impact; and then further reduce and divert enough of the remaining energy until the most violent collision to the head in the game of football; can feel like nothing more than a mere pat on the back.
Distancing yourself from a collision is the single biggest protection and that's why our redesign of the outer shell of the helmet is designed wider on the left and right sides; to add better protection from any side impact collision. The helmet is also designed with added space towards the back of the helmet; to add even more protection from any possible rear impact collisions; or any head to ground collisions that can occur from falling backwards.
- The Impact Diverting Helmet System will add greater protection to the players of the game of football especially the children.
- It will greatly reduce the risk of severe brain injury or concussion and prolong the playing careers of the players of the game of football
- It will give parents a greater sense of comfort knowing that their children are better protected against concussions or brain injury in the game of football.
- This design is not limited to the game of football.
- This product will be manufactured in the U.S.A.
Since manufacturers will have to restructure and reconfigure their equipment to produce the specially manufactured components and the new redesign of the football helmet, ten-percent (10%) of our budget will be used to create the hard polymer outer and inner shells for the dual core helmet.
Fifteen-percent (15%) of our budget will be used to manufacture the impact diverters to meet certain specifications and the strict endurance tolerances so that it can absorb any vertical forces that may act on the helmet.
Twenty-percent (20%) of our budget will be used to manufacture the elliptical compression clip that must be manufactured within certain specifications, and made to meet strict load limits to effectively deflect and absorb any horizontal or shearing force that may act upon the helmet.
Fifteen-percent (15%) of our budget will be used to manufacture the pillow padding. Costs to obtain materials needed for manufacturing should be around ten percent (10%) of our budget and twenty percent (20%) of our budget will be for testing and re-calibration and ten-percent (10%) will be used for professional services.
Our greatest challenge is that three of the components that will be used in the manufacturing process of the helmet has never been made before.
