  Our Continuing Story

We feed people. But this isn’t just about food. It’s about much more.

You take a community that, for decades, has been marginalized, underserved, demonized, and romanticized and you get a part of Los Angeles that usually is only shown in Hollywood movies and the evening news. You get the parts of Los Angeles that tourists and visitors will point and stare at while continuing on the tour bus towards Universal Studios. You get one of Los Angeles’ last remaining original cultural pockets, a 2.4 square mile time capsule of Mexican, El Salvadorian, and Pilipino families, wrapped tight along side the Hollywood freeway, living, breathing, and cooking food that tastes exactly like it’s own history.

30 Days In June

We’ve been open for business, as a restaurant, for close to two years, learning how to navigate the hospitality, tourism, and food service world.  Up until this point, we’ve been surviving, plate to plate, customer to customer, making ends meet like every other person in Echo Park. It’s a been wild, fun, and educational ride so far. Local kids who did good.

But everything will change in a month. We will be a feature on The Food Network’s Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. Everyone has warned us that things are about to get intense. We’re going to see a sudden increase in business, more traffic on our floors, more bustle in the back, and more paperwork in the upstairs office, more than we’ve ever seen before. It’s a welcome increase, but an increase we need to prepare for.

To make sure that every patron, every customer, every guest, is treated with the same, quality, care and attention we’ve been providing so far, we need to hire, staff, train them, and get them prepared for what is about to happen.

This is our opportunity to give back. We need employees. The community needs employment. We need your help to get through the month of June before the increase that will happen once the show airs. 

 

 

June Job Training 

June is going to be difficult without your help. Metaphorically, we’re trying to make it to Las Vegas on a quarter tank of gas. If we don’t increase our staff, our inventory, and our equipment, we will be slammed and our current staff won’t be able to handle the onslaught. Currently, our staff sits at a comfortable total of 12. In order to be ready for July, we need to hire up to 25 more people now so we can properly train them on how to perform at the high level and include them into The Park’s Finest family way of doing things.

We need Front of the House Fighter: Servers, Hosts, Bartenders, Bussers. We need Back of the House Beastlords: Load Masters, Line Cooks, Dishwashers, and Runners. We need Upstairs Admin Angels and Demons: Administrative Assistants and a Marketing Team.

Every person we hire will learn more than one of these positions. They will learn the necessary skills to being a part of the work force. They will learn about the POS system, table-touching, safe-serve, the flow of the floor, the flow of the kitchen, the importance of cleanliness, how a local business is run, and how it grows. Their future can start with us.

We will be working with our local non-profits to help us find candidates that reside in the area. Young or old locals who are reliable, willing to learn, and fit the attitude of The Park’s Finest’s core commitment to satisfying the people’s appetites, contributing to the revitalization of our local communities, and fostering a business model that is engaged with the health and well-being of our employees.

We need to raise $20,000 within the month of June to start them off. This capital goes to their wages, our costs, and an capital injection investment going into what July will bring. With your pledge, we can ensure a smooth transition between the two months.
