Our story follows Nick, a midnight blogger and investigative journalist who gets pulled into one of the many tendrils of an international conspiracy. When a mysterious illness strikes his hometown of Chicago, Nick's best friend goes missing. Nick gets thrown in with unlikely companions in his search for answers. After asking one too many questions, they find themselves on the run.
Caught between revolutionaries and agents of a shadow government, Nick discovers that nearly everything he has assumed about the world is proving to be wrong. As he closes in on the truth, a government coverup seeks to contain a world-shaking secret and somehow quarantine the city before a deadly pandemic sweeps over the earth and eradicates humanity.
The Incident - Official Trailer
We have a passion for telling great stories, and The Incident is an exciting story that needs to be told. From its earliest inception, The Incident has been a story with enormous scope. We've planned out the series with a long-term vision to create an exciting, meaningful story arc that asks important questions about society and even life itself, as it spans five seasons and culminates in a deeply satisfying resolution.
The JourneyFor us, it's the opportunity to take our vision of a big story and turn it into a show that people all across the country (and world) can watch. After a long but thrilling writing and development journey, we're ready to take the next bold leap into fundraising. We're excited to have you join us on the continuation of this journey, and we encourage you to get involved by financially supporting our Indiegogo campaign through donor rewards.
Telling the storyThe story of The Incident will be told in two ways: Firstly, we will pull together our talented cast and crew to create an exciting pilot episode for the kick-off of the series. Secondly, we will be creating issue one of a graphic novel, illustrated by the talented Matthew Sargent, in order to expand the world of The Incident into the colorful and imaginative domain of comics fandom.
Why Chicago?Chicago is where we're based, in the heartland of America. It's a beautiful city with lots of great people. Because it's so photogenic and has so many great resources, Chicago has been home to numerous television shows and movies. We feel proud to count ourselves among such great company in setting our story here and in having our production take place in and around this great city.
The Pilot episode will be 45-60 minutes in length and will be the proof-of-concept for the making of the show. Ideally, Season One of The Incident will have six to eight 1-hour episodes. Most of the story that takes place in Season One has already been mapped out in detail, with an exciting end-of-season reveal.
How many episodes will there be?
The Incident is created and produced by Rodney Cummings, Seneca Lester, and Jonathan Perkins. These three filmmakers have a diverse background in film and television. They've brought their experiences and creative passions together to create their company, 10 Brook Entertainment, and to develop The Incident into an artful and entertaining independent TV series. This project marks Rodney's return to filmmaking after several years' hiatus, Jonathan's directorial debut, and Seneca's latest producing venture. This series will be the culmination of two-and-a-half years of collaboration and a dream of all three filmmakers.
Between us, we have over twenty years' experience in film work. Jonathan has directed several short films and commercials, Rodney has written seven feature screenplays, and Seneca has multiple IMDB credits as a producer of award-winning television shows for The History Channel and The Discovery Channel, and numerous feature films.
We are seeking to raise $15,000 with several stretch goals to fund the production of the pilot episode and issue one of our graphic novel. We've already put an enormous amount of development work into this series, and we will be using the funds raised along with funds from private investors for the immediate production costs of making the pilot and graphic novel. In return for your financial support at whatever support level you choose to participate, you can receive various exciting perks, including: music, props from the pilot episode, autographed posters and tees, limited edition DVDs, VIP set passes, being featured as a character in the graphic novel, and much more. The full breakdown is on the right. If we do not reach our full goal, we will use the funds raised to lay the groundwork for startup production costs, and to seek out-of-town and additional investors.
Why Give?By contributing financially to the production of our pilot episode you will become a major building block for our project, providing the vital support we need to launch the series. By partnering with us through your financial contribution you are helping to ensure that this series pilot becomes a reality.
The ImpactThe Incident Series will help to bring greater awareness to the seriousness of infectious diseases in the world, point out the dangers of germ warfare and government secretiveness, and provide ideas for family disaster preparedness. Of course, all of this is is second to, and in addition to, providing terrific entertainment!

Mark E Penzien
Mark grew up in a small town in Northern Michigan. Originally a shy introvert, he learned that he could be anyone he wanted when onstage. Mark earned his BA in Theatre at Alma College in Alma, Michigan. After graduating, he spent 15 months apprenticing at the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea, MI. There he was able to watch and learn from professional actors and directors. Now a Chicago transplant, Mark has worked with a number of local theatre companies and is now expanding his experience into film acting, stage combat and stunt work. When he's not busy with a multitude of activities around Chicago, you can find Mark jumping out of a plane, working on his skydiving skills. @MEPenzien
