The Idaho Project
This is a film about the power of one horse and how she makes a difference in the world today. This activity project for Stolen Horse International, also known as NetPosse.com, Needs your help right away to make this film a reality.
The film will include educational information for many in the horse industry, as well as the horse lovers of America, who love true heartwarming horse stories. The purpose is to provide awareness, education and funds for the mission work of the organization.
The Idaho Project is the story of an extraordinary adventure between a horse and our family. We never gave up on hope or the search for our stolen horse. Idaho, We brought her home 51 weeks after she was stolen.
Idaho's story is used as an introduction to a world most people do not even know exist, horse theft in the 21st century. Her story will help bring forth more education and awareness needed to help bring other missing horses home. Idaho's story will help shed light on the horses that are here one day and "gone" the next.
This film project is a way to honor all the good that has happen since Idaho's theft. Her story is being used as a catalyst to help more people care about the plight of our missing horses in America, no matter how they are missing. Her story by way of this project will touch on theft, disasters, run-a-ways, civil theft and more.
Shooting of the film will be quick--in September due to the health of Idaho. At 28 and diagnosed with a form of skin cancer, Squamous cell carcinoma, every day is a gift. There is no time for a long pre-production if Idaho is to be part of the project.
Who is Idaho? Why Care?
Harold and I are bonded together for life, maybe even longer with our ole Racking horse that we've had since she was three years old.
Our story began in 1997 with Idaho's theft. It should have ended when we found her but there were still people like us who needed help. Our work with Stolen Horse International keeps us busy 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Harold and I are now stubborn senior citizens who don’t give up easily. Our love for Idaho is deep, and outwardly indestructible. Or at least we thought it was until we were forced to face the fact that no horse lives forever.
But when I found out Idaho had cancer recently, I decided to tell her story and use it to continue her legacy by helping more victims and providing more education. Idaho, has helped thousands of victims, she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. One day she will be gone for good.
Now, our bond with Idaho, our friends and volunteers is being put to a test. We have decided not to cave in to naysayers who think "they’ll never get this project funded", and to fight for what we believe in; "You can never underestimate the power of one."
Harold and I have made great sacrifices to help so many for close to 15 years. Now we are hoping you will help us and Stolen Horse International pay it forward once again.
What We Need
THE IDAHO PROJECT is an activity project produced by the nonprofit organization, Stolen Horse International, also known as NetPosse.com, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, will be producing this activity film project using creative and business entertainment industry professionals with a common goal of producing the “The Idaho Project” film.
The film is in pre-production and has many volunteers offering their help to make this project a success. It will be about 48 minutes long.
I am glad to say that I have been lucky enough to have a wonderfully talented friend, one who has been in the film industry for 25 years, guide us as a producer. This story is close to her heart because she watched our family live it years ago. She recognizes this is a story that needs to be told in a very special way, about a very special horse to thousands around the world, to help thousands more around the world in the future.
We do not have a preview of the film but we do have a short video I put together for you. Please remember that the video is the work of an amateur—and why we need professionals to produce the film.
I have learned many new skills because of the theft of our horse. Cinematography is not one of them.
Funding will go to the production of the film: for hiring a professional film crew and film editor who will make the film look polished; hiring a professional producer and designer to create a true to life set designs; high quality lighting and sound for the film; insurance; food; actors to recreate the past; and other general expenses related to getting the project filmed. There are so many!
- We need $30,000 in funding for the production of the film. This campaign is for the first phase of the project, shooting Idaho's footage.
- If we receive all of the funding we will shoot all phases in September.
- It is going to be filmed in and around Shelby, NC.
- We will use many local talents.
- Many local businesses have already rallied to support our project. We need many more.
If we do not raise all of the funds in this campaign, we will keep what is raised and add it to other fundraisers for this project. Donors will have the option of getting a refund or applying the funds to another project or general funds should we not start the project. However, we do not give up so we have all confidence that you are going to help us fund our project.
THE IDAHO PROJECT is a film for all the people who have ever lost a horse, no matter how they are lost, victims who may have a horse missing now, who have been told they can’t find their lost horses, people who have given up on believing there is good in the world, and want to believe again in the kindness of strangers, and those or have been told to give up on whatever challenge they wish to overcome.
It is also a film for people who love horses or want to love them, who believe there is goodness in the world, in doing what's right regardless of the outcome, and who believes that what lies behind us, and what lies ahead of us, are tiny matters compared to what lives within us.
Your contribution will make a difference.
- Once the film is completed, it will help raise awareness, provide education and help bring more horses home.
- The film may be used in future DVD or in publicly viewed mediums
