About The Project
Hello! I'm Juliana Jade, screenwriter & producer of THE GOOD MISTRESS. Before I tell you about the film, first and foremost, I want to THANK YOU for visiting and considering this project! I've been writing my whole life, though it took a personal encounter with cancer to get me on a definitive path. When I was diagnosed three years ago, I decided not only to work professionally, doing what I love, but I also committed to making a difference through my stories. Soon one of them will be made into a film! Because of the traumatic personal twist which jump-started this venture, and because I am asking you to help, I want to pass it on and help others. So I will be donating a portion of my newly formed production company proceeds from the film to Seattle Children's Hospital. I've been fortunate to partner up with Larry Estes, who has spent quarter of a century making films in both Seattle and Hollywood. He believes in this project and, as a highly experienced producer, is determined to make it into a top-notch film so you can be proud to be its sponsor. And now...
A much-too-busy young professional woman finds herself irresistibly drawn to a charming put-together man as the two pick up their coffee at the same local Starbucks. Their deep attraction is complicated by the fact that she is tied to her disturbing past relationships while he belongs to someone else. Though they find justification for their undeniable magnetism in different ways, the happiness they yearn for together is challenged by a selfless act to save a child's life.
THE GOOD MISTRESS was inspired by hundreds of conversations and interviews with friends and strangers, as I searched for a relevant universal tale to explore. I was amazed to find that the majority of good people, like you and me, have experienced complex and not-always-so-good situations. So in this film we take an honest look at temptation and infidelity with all its heartbreak, from the perspective of people like us, who get lost among temptation, love, pursuit of happiness, values and character, true love, family and unpredictable complications that life presents.
Unlike a traditional romance where love conquers all, or a traditional story of infidelity where the wife is a harpie and the mistress is a slut, THE GOOD MISTRESS is far from black-and-white. It delves into complex intricacies of human connections, shedding new light on this all-too-common predicament, and it takes on the challenge of making sense of it all.
What We Need
We have set out to make one of the most relevant contemporary films on relationships, and while we will be shooting it in the beautiful Northwest (there’s no place like Seattle!), we want to ensure its International success. To make that possible, we want to cast at least one well-known actor and we are convinced we will be able to accomplish that because the script has received amazing reviews from industry professionals, and we believe it will attract high caliber cast. There is so much talent around us! With Larry on board (sex, lies and videotape with Andie McDowell, directed by Steven Soderbergh and Christopher Award winner Smoke Signals, along with 80 other films), and Melanie - award winning make-up artist (Life or something like it with Angelina Jolie and nearly 40 other films), we are set to take this project across the world!
Because we are aiming at the highest quality, the project will cost around two million dollars, most of which will come from investors and our personal connections, but we need you to get the ball rolling! You are a part of the most critical junction in our efforts. The first few thousand are always the hardest... and once investors see that the film is getting interest and cashflow, they jump in. So right now before the end of the year we need to raise $30,000 for the development portion of the project, which will help us retain key players and prepare all the legal documents for investors, and to show to prospective cast that we are for real. This is the less-glamorous part of the process, but it is where we all start and it must be done. If we don't reach our fundraising goal, we will proceed as planned, though it will take longer to get to pre-production. But there is no stopping now!

I have been working on this project for nearly two years, and now it's ready for this important step. I am really excited and humbled to know that a story I wrote, with your help, will soon become a film. As I mentioned earlier, I am committed to making a difference with every story I write.
THE GOOD MISTRESS is a reflection of what so many people have had to face: men and women, mothers and daughters, friends and enemies... It explores intricately complex and unpredictable human connections. I think everyone will identify with some part of the story and perhaps find hope, insight and encouragement.
Besides that, part of the proceeds from the movie will be donated to Seattle Children's Hospital. I've heard wonderful things about it from families who had their children treated there. I don't know if there is anything more important than helping a suffering child and together we can become a part of that process.
And lastly, we are making this film primarily with local resources, giving jobs and exposure to local talent and numerous local businesses - big and small. I've seen many movies made in NYC, where the city is glorified in all its splendor. I'd love to show Seattle in a way it hasn't been seen before - it has so much character and flair, and maybe I'm thinking big, but I believe we can bring some lime light to our community.
