My name is Gila Kurtz. My husband Jon and I own Dog is Good (www.dogisgood.com), a Dog Lifestyle company that produces apparel, gifts, and home decor for the dog lover lifestyle. We use clever and poignant messages with original designs that evoke emotion and remind dog lovers how great it feels to be with Dog. Committed to our values of being socially responsible and philanthropic, we generously give back to animal welfare organizations throughout the United States.
Leader Dogs for the Blind approached us about raising a future Leader Dog (guide dog) for its first year. I am a dog trainer by trade, so the idea was the perfect fit for me and our company mission! Because of our belief that things come full circle- people helping dogs help people, the Bolo project provides us with a way to truly showcase the meaning behind Dogvergnugen, a word we created to describe how great you feel when you're with your dog(s).
The Bolo Project will document the process of raising a Leader Dog. The project begins with Bolo’s birth as a puppy predestined to change the world for one human being. This year long journey will raise awareness for Leader Dogs, educate people how service dogs develop, get trained, and ultimately provide independence and companionship for people. The goal is to generate awareness and educate people on the mission, while raising $25,000 for Leader Dogs for the Blind. Leader Dogs for the Blind provides guide dogs to people who are blind and visually impaired to enhance their mobility, independence, and quality of life.
What We Need & What You Get
We are hoping to raise $50,000 for the project here and through corporate sponsorships, all of which will go directly to The Bolo Project benefiting Leader Dogs for the Blind.
We have some great perks to thank you for funding our project. After all, who doesn't love a cute puppy! Puppy kisses, photos, t-shirts, video, puppy parties, etc!
Other Ways You Can Help
We understand that $'s are tight these days, so even if you can't contribute $, please contribute your time and help us get the word out about the Bolo Project!
