About us and our project

Scoop Films is a new independent film company dedicated to making entertaining and commercial films with international appeal.

Our first film, City Slacker, was completed last year, premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in September 2012 and was nominated for Best UK Feature. It's now in worldwide distribution for TV and online and has been premiered by Sky Movies in the UK.

One of the many things in that film that we were very proud of and that the audiences said they really enjoyed was the music. Through our partners Yellow Boat Music we included seven original songs plus a full orchestral score in the film and we were honoured to be able to secure the services of legendary producer Tony Visconti, who co-produced several of the songs and also brought his not inconsiderable talents to the whole process, all the while working in secret on the David Bowie album The Next Day.

We were able to release the music soundtrack to City Slacker on CD and digital downloads and streaming and we want to do it all again with our new project.

We are raising money to make the music soundtrack for our new film, The Beat Beneath My Feet, which is shooting this autumn.

Tom, a teenage loner, dreams of becoming a rock star but feels thwarted by his God-fearing single mother, Mary. When an intimidating, bearded and tattooed stranger moves into the flat below and plays loud rock music at all hours, Tom recognises him as disgraced guitarist, Sluice, from rock band “Nothing”, who had disappeared presumed dead years earlier owing a fortune in unpaid tax. Tom agrees not to reveal him to the authorities on condition that Sluice, now Steve, teaches him the dark arts of rock guitar. As their relationship develops both man and boy find their way from rock hell to rock redemption.

We have 90s teen idol, Luke Perry (Beverly Hills 90210, The Fifth Element) on board to play Steve/Sluice. Our director is the very talented and award-winning, John Williams, who comes from a background in music videos and animation. We are thrilled to have secured his debut feature.

Music runs throughout the storyline of this film and we want to make this music even better than in City Slacker. So, we are raising £15,000 to help make this happen. We want to work with Tony Visconti again, we want to work with more talented musicians and we want to make a great commercial music soundtrack.

Your contributions will help us pay for the songwriting, producers, studio time, recording engineers, music talent - everything that goes into making and distributing great music.

There's plenty of opportunities to contribute and be a part of our music making. Take a look at the perks on offer.

And there's other ways for you to help, beyond our perks. Mention us to your friends and neighbours, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. Spread the word on social media about The Beat Beneath My Feet use the Indiegogo share tools and help us get this film NOTICED.
