After the overwhelming demand for the book outside of the campaign, I have decided to look into options at offering the book in some capacity online. We will mention when and where the books are available for purchase on the Kukubee facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kukubee-Designs/...
Sorry for Facebook link, but it's the easiest way to get a wide message across. Please don't feel any obligation to like or follow, but if you check that page periodically, we will be making announcements there.
The book may be offered in PDF format or a softcover version of the book. The limited edition signed, premium, hardcover books will most likely remain exclusive to campaign contributors. Perks will no longer be available and contributions made outside of the campaign will not be eligible to be mentioned on the Thank You page.
Also, the price for books outside of the campaign may not be the same as you see here.
Thank you everyone for your support and sorry to everyone who missed out on the campaign.
The Art of Glitch • A Hardcover Book of Images from the Game and World of Glitch
The Art of Glitch will be a 10" wide x 8" tall landscape hardcover book featuring full-page images from the game in rich color.
See the highlights of Glitch as experienced by players of the game along with full production game art, detailed pencil drawings and conceptual character art.
Readers will discover the evolution process of many of the game's core features and characters through iterative sketches and artboards along with alternate and rejected concepts never before seen.
A section of the book will be devoted to showcasing the multitude of unique visual styles and the most beautiful locations representing the world of Glitch.
Also, all campaign contributors will be welcome to join in on conversations pertaining to the contents of the book.
- When will the book come out?
We are planning on having the book done early (Feb-Mar) in 2013.
- What's in the book?
Images of the various regions in Ur, some of the most beautiful streets, profiles of all the Giants, as many characters and creatures and items we could cram in, never before seen concept art and design proposals, some of the best player created snapshots, and everything that YOU want to see.
- Who selects the art in the book?
- What does my money go towards?
Nobody likes asking for money. But the fact of the matter is, I can't afford to buy a book for everybody. And even if I were to order a whole bunch and then sell them to you guys, I would have no guarantee that they would sell and I may end up with a huge pile of books in my bedroom.
The funds raised will go towards:
- The very high costs of producing hardcover books
- Additional perks
- Whatever that's left will go towards helping to fund Tiny Speck's next venture, and maybe buy me some time to create this book for you guys.
- I have no money! How can I help?
Spread the word! Let everyone know about your experiences you had on Glitch. Get in contact with old Glitch buddies and let them know about this campaign. Mention it on Twitter or Facebook or wherever people hang out on the internet nowadays.
- Will the books be available anywhere else?
Nope. The book will be a LIMITED EDITION run. I will order all the books (plus just a few extra for friends, family, and safe keepings) if and once the goal is reached and will not have a second print.
- I don't care about the art but I want to help!
Our very talented friend, Danny Simmons, who was the man behind the music of Glitch has a indiegogo campaign of his own to preserve all the wonderful and amazing music and sound from the game. Get it now!
- How much will shipping cost?
Shipping will be estimated to cost:
Everywhere Else $20
Expedited shipping will be available to all contributors and you will be informed of all your shipping options via email at the book's completion.
- Are the example book cover and book pages subject to change???
What is Glitch?
Glitch was the wonderfully whimsical online game developed by Tiny Speck, Inc. In 2012, Glitch was nominated for two GDC Online Awards, for Game Design and Visual Art. The mission of this campaign is to preserve all the incredible art from the enormous, ever-changing, persistent world of Glitch.
