Would you or someone you know like to learn how to weld?
For the past three years Midwest Metalworks has been teaching people just like you how to weld. Our students learn the fundamentals of welding and are then allowed to openly use the shop to develop their basic fabrication skills. Now, we are raising funds in order to start Arc Academy.
Arc Academy will be a small welding and fabrication school for everyone that wants to learn this valuable skill. With your help, the funds will be used to purchase new welding and fabrication equipment, offer more courses, youth programs, and develop an interactive website with learning videos and live real time classes. But, we can’t do it without your help!
It is apparent that many people have forgotten how or were never taught to fix or make things for themselves. It seems the new mentality is to buy-it, trash-it, buy-it again. The craftsmanship that shaped our world is rapidly slipping away. You see it in our schools and in our culture. People are forgetting skills, like welding, that will be needed in our future.
Steve Christena is keeping the art alive at his little shop called Midwest Metalworks in Chicago, IL and now at Arc Academy. Steve has a passion for welding, art, and education. It is through this unique mix that Steve is able to convey his knowledge to individuals that would like to learn how to make and fix things on their own. He has been doing so for 15 years! But don’t take our word for it, check out what his students think at:
Arc Academy is meant to be a starting point for anyone interested in welding! It will be affordable and allows you to learn at your own pace with lots of resources to help guide you along the way. We hope that through this, we can take some of the mystery out of welding and show you that you too can weld and understand how it works in a friendly, safe, and fun environment.
Thank you in advance for your contributions and support!!!
What We Need & What You Get‘Learn It. Weld It. Make It.’ is our motto. So help us,help you! The funds we raise will go directly towards building on top of the foundation that Midwest Metalworks has already created.

1,000 Marketing/Social Media

For those near Chicago, are also offering classes in some of the perks for you to check out Arc Academy yourself. See the perks section to choose your level of support.
We hope to become the educational opportunity to help fill the void where the teaching of trades in schools has been cut. We would like to demystify welding and increase awareness of how this skill can help, not only hobbyists, but younger generations.
