WHO WE ARE
Hey everyone, my name is Matt Cognetti, and I’m the writer and director of The Anniversary. I’m a seventeen year old in high school with the dream of becoming a filmmaker, and my current crew is a small group of family and friends that are all dedicated to every new project that comes our way.
This is definitely our most ambitious project yet. In the past we had never thought about funding a short film, but as we move farther down the road in our expirience, every new film needs to be much better than the last, and we decided that starting that with The Anniversary was best. I can say that most people would describe The Anniversary as a unique project, being the first sequel to a short film that I've ever heard of. Moving on to a new idea just wasn't an option for me. I felt that this story had so much potential to be great, and that we could take it a step further from The Admirer and show the true concept that I had envisioned last year.
My goal with The Anniversary is to take everything to a higher level than I ever have before, and to do that there is nothing I need more than your support. I cannot emphasize enough how important you are to the entire project. Your donations will enable me to take my skills to a further level and really deliver a short film that you will be proud to have donated to. Everyone on the team is dedicated bringing 110% to this short film and working hard until it is finished, and the opportunity for us to reach our $6,000 goal in order to fulfill The Anniversary's full potential lies in your hands.
Filming The Admirer Summer 2012
SHE THOUGHT HE WAS GONE... LOOKS LIKE SHE WAS WRONG.
It's Valentine's Day, one year after the hooded figure made his first attempt at winning over his long love, Sarah Brooks, who refuses to have anything to do with the stalker. He has come back to finish business with her, but this time, he's out for revenge. When Sarah's best friend Taylor becomaes a hostage and at risk of death, she'll have to find her inner strength, face her biggest fears, and fight for her and her friend's life.
You can watch the prequel to this short, The Admirer, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tggv25DjnM8 . It is a scary thing for me to post The Admirer, because the large amount of hard work and effort that we put into it doesn't really show. We weren't as experienced and knowledgeable a year ago, and that is why we really need you guys to give us a chance to show the skills we have now and create an amazing short film.
I started writing the script for The Anniversary around two months ago, not sure exactly how I wanted to go about the story. All I knew was that the storyline had to be different enough from The Admirer so that it wasn't repetitive, and we needed new locations and new actors. I also wanted The Anniverary to be scarier and more intense, something that would make you jump, but at the same time have a message and deliver a great story. I feel that I have accomplished that with this script, and now that the entire short is written, starting this campaign is the next step before shooting.
Filming is scheduled to take place in late July or early August, throughout a few locations in San Jose, California such as a hiking trail, and different houses. We felt that it was necessary to change up the scenery from The Admirer in order to make The Anniversary more interesting and to give a different point of view and setting for the story. When we think of creepy, we think woods. Well, the closet we could get was a local hiking trail, but close enough! We hope to convey the creepy atmposhere of a forest with this location, while adding a sense of "it could happen to you" by using a simple hiking trail. Filming should take about a month.
For all of you Thriller and Horror lovers, especially in your teen years, this short film is for you. Unlike The Admirer, The Anniversary will scare you. We want you to jump, we want you to throw whatever you're eating in the air, and we want you to scream! We just want you to have as much fun watching it as we will creating it. The Anniversary will be packed full of action and suspense, and we also threw in a little humor.
This short film also touches on the subject of abusive relationships and the dangers that females face in the world today, with predators and abusive males, and hopefully this short film, along with giving you the chills, will also show females just how strong and brave they can be.
So, why do we need $6,000?
Professional equipment, to nail the look and feel of the film and give it the amazing quality that only professional equipment could provide.
Paying our composer, who will be creating an amazing soundtrack for us. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5322447/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1
Securing locations, to film in public places and change up the scenery.
Props like professional fake guns and knives, to sell the danger effect but not actually hurt anyone!
Film festival entry fees: If you give us the chance to make an amazing short film, we can hopefully win awards and have film festival success.
Hospitality: Feeding and paying the cast and crew, after many long days of hard work and filming in the hot Summer sun.
All of the money that is donated will be greatly appreciated, and donating any amount, even as low as $1, will be a huge help that can make a difference in some aspect of the film. This short film is in the hands of you potential donators, and without your crucial support, this short film cannot happen nearly as successfully as I would like it to.
