Mill Hollow 2014 Fundraiser and Sponsorship Opportunities
The Mill Hollow Outdoor Education Center is nestled in a secluded alpine canyon approximately sixty miles southeast of Salt Lake City on the south rim of the Uinta Mountains. Team Mill Hollow is a non-profit organization sanctioned by Granite School District and dedicated to keeping the educational legacy of Mill Hollow alive.
What is the issue?
The Granite School District Mill Hollow Outdoor Education Center has served more than 115,000 students over the past 49 years in science educational programming. Due to the loss of a funding stream provided by a recreational levy (HB 301), an estimated $350,000 is now needed to make Mill Hollow operational for this season.
Why is this important?
Educational programs at the center are designed to actively involve students in outdoor learning activities, wildlife observation, and nature trail hikes. Qualified teachers provide students with unique learning opportunities in various scientific subjects including: botany, zoology, geology, ecology, and astronomy. If Team Mill Hollow can find funding for this upcoming season, approximately 3,500 students will have access to this educational experience. It will also lessen the risk of an indefinite closure.
What does Team Mill Hollow need?
In order to make staffing preparations, register students, and prepare for this summer season, funding must be allocated and available before the end of March 2014. Help is needed to raise $350,000 to run the camp without cutting into districtwide educational expenses and capital improvement costs. Team Mill Hollow has been granted permission to reach out on Granite School District’s behalf to collect donations for these operational expenses for the 2014 Mill Hollow season.
How can I help?
Mill Hollow is offering tiered incentives for donations. Large donations over
$10,000 have special requirements. Time is extremely limited. Please contact
Team Mill Hollow at TeamMillHollow@gmail.com as soon as possible so
appropriate measures can be exacted.
Due to legal requirements for the district, these donors should meet with a member of Team Mill Hollow and Superintendent Bates to facilitate the appropriate documentation of the donation. Donors at this level may be considered sponsorships and incentives will be catered to the specific donor.
What is the timeline?
All donations for operational funding for the 2014 season will need to be collected by the end of March.
