What is Sweeping Zen?
Established in 2009 as a grassroots initiative, Sweeping Zen is a digital archive of information on Zen Buddhism. Featuring in-depth interviews, an extensive database of biographies, news, articles, podcasts, teacher blogs, events, directories and more, this site is dedicated to offering the public a range of views in the sphere of Zen Buddhist thought. We are also endeavoring to continue creating lineage charts for all Western Zen lines, doing our own small part in advancing historical documentation on this fabulous import of an ancient tradition.
Why are funds needed and where does it go?
During the last few years, maintaining Sweeping Zen has gone from a fun hobby to a rewarding full-time job. I believe we are a different kind of Buddhist media outlet — helping to shine a light on issues of importance to Zen communities. We are a publishing outlet committed to telling the truth. What is that worth to you — a place where free and open discussions are encouraged and fostered? What drives me in this work I’m doing is a deep and ongoing distrust for what often passes itself off as journalism these days. I believe only in reporting on what is.
Because Sweeping Zen is a grassroots publisher, the bulk of my income comes from individual contributors like you.
Funds will helps pay me a monthly income, finance our yearly server costs, and pay for our audio hosting. With your support I can earn a living wage and meet my goals of obtaining new transportation and finding my own housing.
$3500 is simply my goal but I know I may not always reach that. Please give whatever you can if you are moved to do so or help get the word out. Thank you!
Here are what some Zen teachers say about the website
Here are some links to a few video endorsements for Sweeping Zen from teachers like James Ishmael Ford Roshi of Boundless Way Zen and Genjo Marinello Osho of Chobo-ji in Seattle.
Your contribution today will make continuing my work at the website possible and allow for 1000's of readers like yourselves to derive benefit from the articles and news items we run. Thank you for that!
