Hi, I'm Leslie Maj, Partner in the Film Production Company, MONKEY FILMS, with my Writer/Director husband, Mark Maj. We are based in Racine, WI, a suburb of Milwaukee, home of Beer and Harley's.
SUPER DELUXE (a short) is our first film, and was inspired by nothing more than the words "Super Deluxe" coming over the radio, as well as the desire to work again with the well-respected Milwaukee Actor, Robert W.C. Kennedy, in a vehicle designed to showcase his talent, humor, and wit.
The film introduces us to a Lounge Singer with an Odd Name who has a Strange Past, and who is certainly more than what he appears. SUPER DELUXE also gave us the opportunity to work again with talented actors from the Milwaukee Area whom we like and respect: Dan Katula, Anieya Walker, Colin Daly, Gladys Chmiel, Felix Bofil, Vickey Ippolito, Rachel Gomez, and Donnell Jackson. In addition, we are thrilled to be working with the talented, Niko King in the role of Matilda, our femme fatale, and Paul Pfannenstiel, our Drunken Heckler.
In addition, MONKEY FILMS has partnered with DIRTY JOB FILMS (Ross Bigley), and MUTANT BARMONKEY PRODUCTIONS, LLC (Glen Popple), for their expertise and assistance, who between them, have over 70 films under their belts. We'll have a even better film for it.
As I mentioned, this is our very first film, and with your help, we know it can be entertaining and funny!

What We Need & What You Get
We are passionate about making films, but, unfortunately, not as passionate about the limited amount in our bank account!
Making movies takes money. For example, we need to provide food and beverages to our Cast & Crew while shooting, rent costumes, pay for location(s), rent camera lenses and equipment, makeup, and pay entry fees for our film to be shown at film festivals.
We estimate this project at 6 days for principal photography, and at $150 per day to feed our folks, that's $900. In addition, we have to pay rent of approximately $200 per day for two days in order to use our principal location.
Costumes are $75 each, and a minimum of 4 costumes will need to be rented. So, of our $2,200 budget, that would leave us with approximately $700 for camera and equipment rental, special effects makeup, film festival fees, and the awesome Perks listed to the right for supporters of our Campaign.
Other Ways You Can Help
We know times are tight for many, and understand that not all can give. However, if you can’t contribute, please help us by sharing our campaign to get the word out and make some noise about our fun film, SUPER DELUXE!
