Thank you so much for visiting my campaign page. I made the video above to show you why I started this campaign, but I want to try to tell you in words too.
I've been producing online documentaries and highlight videos in BJJ 5 years now at my own expense, and with a little help from sponsors. The videos have always been free to viewers. I started creating them to make a name for myself as a producer of quality, inspiration visual material for the BJJ community.
Well it worked. People want to see more!
This is the artwork for the design of my LTD Rash guards and the T shirts.
Recently though, I thought of giving up on the whole thing. I got inspiration to keep going from Dean Lister, who told me "If you give up on your dreams, a part of you dies inside." His words reminded me of the importance of making videos not just out of my own inspiration, but to inspire others too.
The hard part has been cost. Over the years, I’ve been losing money. The sponsors that I have are awesome and have helped me with expenses and living costs, but that doesn't cover travel. I was hoping that eventually, whilst making these videos, a big sponsor would spot me and my hard work and make this my full time job. Unfortunately that has not happened. It seems there is not much money in Jiu Jitsu film making or the sport itself as it is relatively new and still growing. I can't go on producing these documentaries and highlights unless I find another way to raise the funds.
This is what I want to talk to you about.
My artistic goal:
20 more videos over the next 12 months. I do my best to show the positivity of jiu jitsu through my films. The films that I have planned to come out over the next year feature Kron Gracie, Rickson Gracie, Romulo Barral, Dean Lister, Scott Nelson (founder of OTM) Henry Akins, Jeff Glover, Kurt Osiander, Marcelo Garcia, Andreas Kraniotakes, My good friend and UFC Vet Roger Huerta, Keenan Cornelius, Andre Galvao, Kit Dale, Roy Dean, Xande Ribeiro, and more motivational JiuJitsu Highlight videos to inspire us and pump us up before training when we do not feel like it. I also have a 4 part documentary series on ADCC 2013 in the making, with each episode being one hour long.
Along the way over the next 12 months many more big names will come up and more highlights will be made. I am going to do my best to beat my target of making 20 documentaries and I want to make sure that they all tell a good story to inspire us in a different ways.
Where the money will go:
The costs of my flights, travel expenses, equipment and living expenses whilst I am producing these films. All the money will be invested back into the film making process itself so i can make more full length documentaries online for free. Over the years I have had to I sleep on gym floors while traveling to make the documentaries and I will continue to do so. I do not mind this at all, it’s part of the process. I have enjoyed every step of my pathway and I have seen so much around the world, and have been humbled by it.
How it will help:
Not having to worry about raising funds will help me keep focused on producing my best JiuJitsu and MMA documentaries, highlights and films for the community. It will also help spread the art that we all love and give the athletes and sport more exposure. My most recent trip to America cost me over $20,000 USD which all went towards flights, travel and living expenses. It also went towards an entire new set of cameras and equipment, lenses, mics, flash cards, editing software, tripods and a 2 camera set up. This is so the films can be made and produced the way they should.
Where you come in:
You can donate $100, $50, $10 or even $5, whatever you like or can afford. Every bit counts and makes a difference.
Who it will help (it’s not just me):
There is also another reason to donate. By donating you will be enabling me to produce documentaries on the world class, hardworking athletes who don't make much money. Most of these famous athletes struggle for money and sleep in the gym, living a very different lifestyle to what you and I know. The athletes work very hard, and the JiuJitsu community loves them, but still they don't get much exposure for all the dedication and commitment they put in.
What I do now:
My real job and financial source of income, comes mostly from making wedding videos. I don't want to do that anymore, because I see a bigger picture. My films have become too successful to just give it up rendering all my hard work to waste. I see what a difference the videos make in the community through views counts and through the emails I get from fans telling me what a great job I am doing and telling me to keep up the hard work. The only way I can do this now is with help from YOU, the fans, and other sponsors.
Please help me and the Professional MMA and JiuJitsu Artists by donating to my campaign so that I can carry on making more documentaries, films and highlights on the sport. My goal is to make this my full time job, so I can truly focus and dedicate myself to producing more content for the JiuJitsu community, online, for free.
What Stuart Cooper videos are about:
In my videos I always try to show a deeper meaning and message to the story, which inspires and motivates people, who don't even train or know anything about the sport. I do my best to get that positive life message across in my films.
Live happy, do what you are supposed to do, and want to do whilst chasing your dreams. Be successful in what you do. You may not be rich but success is happiness with yourself and your family.
So please, if you have time and want to see me make more films and see the sport grow you can donate any amount of money and it will make a difference. I want to share the Art that I love so much, the Art that changed my life and many others before me. JiuJitsu is something special and brings people together from all walks of life and changes people’s lives for the better. These documentaries are on real people, and they are real life stories that motivate us.
I need support from everyone to keep these videos going or eventually I will have to unfortunately stop.
Thank you to everybody so far who’s always watched and shared my videos. I never had any idea that this would happen or I that I would develop such a big following in the JiuJitsu World. The views and comments I get blow me away. I appreciate every single message that I get as this pushes me to work harder and it lets me know that I am doing a good job whilst making a difference.
Please share this page if you like what I am doing so more donations can be made and then more films can be produced, enabling the athletes and sport to get more exposure and grow. You can also help by sharing this page and all the videos that will be made on your social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, then more people will become aware of my campaign and the sport.
Thank you so much
