TRANSLATION OF VIDEO: “We are looking for donations for a machinery and electronics store that we want to set up in Conakry. The people in Guinea have plenty of oil, petrol and gas, but they have no electricity, this is something we can contribute to.
The donations that we hope to receive are for purchasing water pumps, generators, boat engines and some electronics like televisions, freezers, refrigerators, computers and tablets. This is what we are hoping to carry out. In this regard Soul Shine is independently contributing 5000 kr. for purchasing.
The main goal of introducing these projects is the creation of employment. In the particular case of the machinery and electronics store, it is also to re-establish the old concept of apprenticeship. This means we want to appoint competent people to teach some of the young unemployed men of which there is a primary group between the ages of 18-30, whose re-qualification we are very interested in advancing and supporting.”
Shine Africa - Magasin Soul Shine Ocation-Electronic
In 2014 the socio-economic non-profit enterprise Soul Shine opens three
stores in capital of Conakry in Guinea, among these a machinery and electronics
store. The economically troubled country is craving job opportunities, and many
children and young people are living difficult lives on the streets of the
capital. In the three stores they will be able to find both employment and
refuge from the violence and uncertainty of the streets.
The West African nation is rich in natural resources like oil and gas, but very few citizens have access to useful technology like engines, generators and pumps. This implicates many professions from construction to the fishing industry. A boat engine can create a livelihood in the fishing trade, and a water pump can reduce the difficulties of day to day living. In addition there is a great demand for modern conveniences like televisions, laptops and tablets. This makes the machinery and electronics store 'Magasin Soul Shine Ocation-Electronic' much needed.
In the long term both the ownership and daily running of the store will be handed over to the local community. Soul Shine Africa will kickstart a positive development in Conakry by giving the inhabitants the possibility to take charge of their own future.
Over the coming months we will be purchasing items for the machinery store. We will be scouring the secondhand stores, flee markets and newspaper adds. This is where we will need your support. Soul Shine is donating $1000 out of our own expenses, but we will need more to fill the shelves, and remember every donation counts!
Donations of a $1 and upwards qualifies for a diploma as evidence of your support:
