We're creating SONICBOOST STUDIO, a high quality home recording studio where local artists can create a quality album at an affordable rate. We need your help to make it possible to keep our rates very low and help to foster the local music scene.
My name is Eric Myers. I manage a high end recording studio here in Raleigh, NC - www.puremixstudios.com
The rates at PureMix are already pretty reasonable considering the level of quality we provide. The room there was designed by Wes Lachot, and we have an SSL console, as well as a pile of incredible outboard gear. However, there are still many artists who can't afford even our deepest discounted rate of $50/hr at PureMix.
SONICBOOST STUDIO will exist in the basement of my home where we can help musicians create music with some very good equipment and skilled engineers starting at $25/hr!
- STUDIO TIME! We think this is pretty genius. We are also making studio time available as a reward. Even if you are not interested in the studio time, you could buy some studio time and donate THAT to an artist you believe in!
We already have the equipment needed to record, edit and mix great sounding albums because of the generosity of our partner studio PureMix Studios. We are thinking of SONICBOOST STUDIO as sort of a "B" room for PureMix. We are keeping the overhead extremely low by building out a room in our basement, and we are also able utilize the portable equipment that we use for our "on location" recordings as the majority of the platform for SONICBOOST STUDIO.
In order to keep our rates low, we need your help with final construction costs in order to finish the basement area in such a way that the rooms will be isolated from each other and to create an acoustically appropriate environment for tracking and some light duty mixing.
Final mixes for larger budget projects can always be completed at PureMix, but for demo budget projects we will need to make the acoustics in the environment at SONICBOOST STUDIO correct enough to complete a demo quality mix.
We need to raise a minimum of $5000 to complete construction here in the basement for approximately 300 square feet of space to isolate from the upper floor, stud the walls, install electrical, HVAC, and electrical work. Some of this work has already been completed, and the money we raise through this project will complete the remaining construction tasks.
If we "overfund" through this Kickstarter we will put the additional funds towards additional studio equipment to expand our capabilities.Remaining budget needs breakdown:
- Electrical - $750
- Framing/Insulation - $2000
- Drywall/Painting/Flooring/Finishing (doors/light fixtures etc) - $2250
Your donation will be like a scholarship fund for many local artists helping to keep our hourly rate costs WAY down. There are already many artists and bands lined up and waiting to take advantage of our low rates and expertise.
