The SoLow Project: Short Summary
First of all, I want to say that anything worth doing is worth doing it bigWith that said, $100,000 can quickly turn into 1 million. I want to thank God, all my friends, family, and fans ahead of time for making this happen - not for you or me, but for us as a whole. I see myself as merely a part of a much larger team, all of us contributing to reach that ultimate goal in the game of life; personal success.
As for my music, I want to make it clear that I am not a gangster rapper. I strive to create a positive message with my music. However, my music is also drama infused because my life is not always as positive as the messages I want to share. Because of this constant duality, I feel that my music carries a unique appeal and defies categorization. But for the sake of comparison, I would say that my style is similar to Nas, Jay Z , Kanye West, Rick Ross, and Outcast with a little bit of Nelly and Drake sprinkled here and there.
Now that you know a little about my music and my style, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Barry J. Solomon, aka SoLowthe1. I am an independent CEO/artist/engineer/producer. I have set extremely aggressive goals for myself in 2013. My greatest goal is to hold multiple Grammys by this time 2014. To date, I have recorded 40 songs, most notably of which are “Walk With Me” “Think About feat. Lina” “1Fan” and “So Sick”.
The next phase is to prepare my current catalog of songs for the world. I am raising money that will enable me to fully fund the SoLow Project, an undertaking where I produce a collection of songs that are mixed and mastered in a full-scale professional studio. Completing this project will allow me to deliver radio quality records to my fans. I have recorded, edited, mixed, and mastered the first wave of songs by myself with no outside help. By the time you read this, a few of those songs will be posted on my website (solowthe1.org) and leaked on a few select internet radio stations and social networks.
Why am I so adamant about getting my music out? Besides my love of music and unwavering dream of becoming a well-known recording artist, I am also a proud father. I have four small children and a fifth child on the way. They are depending on daddy to come through for them. They keep me alive and thriving. They are my inspiration. They are my world. As I record in Los Angeles, they are in Dallas, TX and I miss them to death. They are the reason why I’m up in the wee hours of the night preparing and planning this extensive fund raising campaign.
On November 14, 2012 a good friend of mine, Alwaz Carey (Mariah Carey’s cousin), and I embarked on a Journey to Americas Got Talent here in Los Angeles. It was a crazy day and an even crazier night before the event. The Journey can be viewed on my YouTube channel: solowthe1. We were the only Hip-Hop artists at the audition. In February 2013 we will find out when we will be coming back for round 2 of the show. Keep us in your prayers.
The SoLow Project: Mission
My mission is to keep my ear to the streets and build a team of individuals that will come together to form one of the most powerful Independent Record Labels in Global History. Powered by artists and for artists, we will strive to propel not only ourselves, but up and coming acts that wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to succeed in what is now being called the old record business. We will nurture and build our young men and women. We will strive to take our Hip-Hop culture back and restore the balance that the old record industry ripped away from us. As we succeed, we will also give back to the streets that spread the word. It was the streets that made us who we are by purchasing our albums, merchandise, and tickets to our shows. It was the streets that supported us when no one else cared. As the streets have supported us, it is our mission to help support the streets through charitable contributions.
What We Need & What You Get In Return
We live in a rapidly changing world. The music industry as a whole is not what it once was. 2013 is the year of the independent artist and the independent record label. The major labels are fighting tooth and nail to restore order. Restoring order means that they maintain complete control over who succeeds and who does not succeed in this business. Did you know that the big labels will sign and lock up-and-coming artist to a record deal, then shelve the artist’s album for a year or two in order to keep him or her out of the clutches of the competition? In this situation, the artist is unable to make a living because their album isn’t being marketed or sold. This affects not only the artist, but those who depend on the artist, such as family. Well, that is the old way of doing things. A new dawn is arising. However, we independents have only a small window of opportunity before the major record labels are able to restore order.
This is where you, the fans, come into the picture. You have the ability to fight against the stranglehold of the major record labels. You have an opportunity to play a role in keeping this madness at bay. You have an opportunity to have a voice and determine who you want to hear in your ear buds. You get to decide which artists you want to succeed in this new record business. You now have an opportunity to contribute first-hand to the momentum of an up-and-coming artist that strikes a chord with you. This is a person-to-person interaction taking place. I don’t have a media team yet, or a team at all for that matter. This is me, SoLowthe1, ground floor opportunity - what you see is what you get!
I have a detailed business plan in place, complete with deadlines and costs associated with bringing the entire project to the marketplace. Whether you are a fan of my work or the work of any other independent artist, you are already a part of this new dawn and I hope that you will continue this journey with me and contribute whenever and wherever possible.
WIFM (What’s In It For Me)
As you travel with me on this journey, you get bragging rights to say that you were one of the first contributors to the success of SoLowthe1’s career; That you were there when I was on indiegogo.com trying to raise money for my first album release and my first official video. You can say that you got one of the first exclusive underground tracks or you were one of the first 10 people to have my first underground autographed mix tape recorded in the living room of his aunt’s apartment. My first loyal 1 million True Fans will get VIP Celebrity treatment, and a thank you from me when I reach that first Million sold or million dollars whichever comes first. I’ll remember who you are. I keep detailed records through my mailing list etc. And, the list goes on and on.
Not only will you be contributing to my success, but to the success of other aspiring artists that would not otherwise have had an opportunity to be heard. Your contributions will allow me to eventually get to a point where I can give back to the people, the communities that supported me and helped to reach my goals. Let’s remember why we are here. Let’s remember to feed the homeless and keep our kids in school, as Sauce Haley would say.

You can send emails, share my videos, post links to this website, songs, struggles, etc. with all your friends and family, your Face book and Twitter friends, etc. Thank You And God Bless.
