Making Communities Safer
SirenGPS is a start-up working to improve emergency communication and response. Our emergency communication and management software, Siren Emergency, is designed to help schools, hospitals and communities get first responders on the scene faster by connecting your smartphone to emergency services. A free application on your phone lets you share your location with local emergency services that subscribe to Siren Emergency. A paid upgrade to our free application, Siren Safety Circle, lets you share your information and communicate with the people who care about you, connecting friends and family to each other in an emergency.
Siren Emergency: Siren Emergency turns mass notification into true emergency management. Once a school, university or municipality subscribes to Siren Emergency, individuals in that community will be able to connect with emergency services through location tracking of 911 calls and emergency texts. Siren Emergency helps 911 dispatch and emergency personnel monitor and manage emergencies. Siren's software tracks 911 calls, sends and receives emergency texts and coordinates emergency response with community communication, which means help can come faster and be more effective. Because Siren Emergency is fully interoperable, it lets emergency resources communicate with each other, helping them respond more quickly, especially in large scale emergencies.
Safety Circle Smartphone App: In a addition to Siren Emergency, Siren also has a paid mobile app, Safety Circle, for sale directly to individuals that you can use to let your friends and family know you are safe, check up on your kids, and talk to each other even when cell service is interrupted -- because our application also works over wireless internet. Safety Circle helps friends and family look out for each other in an emergency. Siren’s Safety Circle allows you to:
• Enable Safety Circle contacts to see your location.
• Automatically send your location to your safety circle when you call 911.
• Automatically share your location and message when you send/receive emergency texts. (Where available)
• Permit Safety Circle contacts to automatically receive notification of your automated alerts regarding dangerous weather, political unrest, etc.
• Tell everyone in your Safety Circle you are OK with one text message, exchanging text messages with your Safety Circle even when cell service is out.
• Turn your phone into a two-way radio to talk to your Safety Circle.
Getting Siren into Schools, Making Them Safer
We raised over $400,000 in 2012 to build a prototype and test it in exercises with Boston University. In a December exercise recreating the Aurora, Colorado shooting in Boston University's Bakst Auditorium Siren provided emergency management with caller location, text capability and tactical awareness of people on the scene. Siren provided instant awareness of callers with their location and personal information, shaving three minutes from the standard response time.
Using great feedback we got from the law enforcement community and working with behavioral scientists from Boston University we have come up with the plan to finish building our application. The response from schools and law enforcement has been great!
We are in the process of putting together a Beta program with university, school, municipal and corporate installments of Siren Emergency. The Beta program will run during the Summer of 2013 as we complete our products, and start selling Siren Emergency and Siren Safety Circle. We plan to engage the venture capital community to scale Siren once we are producing revenue. The goal is to grow Siren and extend the benefits of faster emergency response across the country. Your contributions will help us get there.

Did You Know?
Did you know that you need to tell the 911 operator where you are? Have you ever thought about how nice it would be to send a text in an emergency if you couldn't make a call? Those are the problems we are solving with SirenGPS. We built a prototype and tested it with Boston University. Now we need to turn that prototype into an application you can put on your phone. The Newtown shooting was a horrible tragedy in a series of horrible tragedies and lots of people are looking for answers. Our part of the solution is software that can help police get there faster, saving lives. Virginia Tech, Northern Illinois and other "Active Shooter" attacks often end like Newtown: with a perpetrator who is killed or who kills himself when police arrive. Newtown lasted 14 minutes. Emergency dispatch spent ten minutes telling police where to go over RF radio.

With Siren on your phone giving emergency dispatch your location, they can make sure first responders know where to go when you call 911.
Reward Specifics, Descriptions and Limitations
We are offering two rewards levels in return for your contributions: Safety Circle, and Siren Emergency. Safety Circle is a smartphone application for connecting friends and family in an emergency. The application will be available for download and activation with instructions sent to you on the release date. Siren Emergency is an emergency management platform that provides mass notification, 911 caller location, emergency text capability, and other tools on a web based interface. Siren Emergency works with our free mobile application, distributed in the community. Contributors who receive the right to designate a school or other location as the recipient do so subject to the acceptance and cooperation of the designee. Siren Emergency is deployed based on preferences established by the emergency resource and management personnel in the community responsible for using it. Siren will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your designee. Designations must be made within 12 months of the Estimated Delivery Date, for implementation to occur within 24 months of the Estimated Delivery Date. Your Siren Emergency Designee must be located within the "lower 48" states of the continental United States. Installations will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis.
Risks and Limitations Related to our Campaign
We work with software developers experienced with geo-mapping and smartphone application development. We have a lot of confidence that they will get the job done. However delays and unanticipated development or design issues often come up in software development. Unforeseen issues could delay delivery, or mean different functionality than originally conceived.
Safety Circle, the personal safety reward software associated, does not require your local community to adopt Siren Emergency, our emergency management software platform. However, Safety Circle will do more for you if local police and fire work with Siren so that you can share your location with them. Safety Circle will work great even limited to connecting you to friends and family.
Siren is compliant with all current laws and regulations, and with the Terms of Service for participation in cellular providers and mobile phone manufacturer programs. However, this is an emerging space and the rules are somewhat uncertain. We may not be able to deploy all features on all phones, or in all locations in the future.
Single "Protect a School!" purchases, or aggregated school sponsor Safety Circle designations are limited to a single, geographically contiguous campus.
