Shooting on the Rim is a mockumentary about the production of an adult movie.

SHORT SYNOPSIS

A documentary team set out to chart the production of a British pornographic film with ideas above it’s station. What follows is a fly-on-the-wall view of the highs and lows of adult filmmaking. Personalities clash, protests rage and accidents happen.

Who said porn has to be sexy?

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Three guys from Manchester with no money and no studio backing are making their first feature length movie because, well why the hell not?

We know we can do it, we have the skills, or we know a guy that does, we have the equipment and we have done something similar before.

We made Ramblers, a ten part semi-autobiographical web-series with a total runtime of about 100 minutes (available to watch at www.ramblerstheshow.com). It was pretty good, people liked it. It was featured on BBC 6 music and comedian Josie Long described it ‘like a high brow Kevin Smith’. You can watch it by following one of the links below. It’s good but it isn’t perfect, we made a lot of mistakes. As one reviewer said, we made enough mistakes to make something great next time. This is that next time.

There is absolutely no doubt in our minds that this will be a good film. We have an amazing crew and a fantastic cast. We’ve recruited the cream of the North West indie film community. People with the ability and the passion to make a film for a few thousand pounds look like it cost a few million. People who are as disgustingly, sickeningly in love with making films as we are.

So far, some of our recruits are:

John Grey (Director of Photography) www.vimeo.com/johngrey

Too Tall Too Small Productions www.vimeo.com/gabiandpaul

Joseph Stacey (Actor) www.spotlight.com/4055-7837-0260

We have all the passion in the world but passion alone can’t make this film.

On Ramblers everyone worked for free, it was a 14 day shoot with 5 night shoots and no days off. We still don’t know how we convinced people to work with us but they want to work with us again. We asked far too much of too many talented people, after we were wrapped we made the decision to never do that again. We want to do right by the people that work with us but we can’t do it alone, we need your help. Our day jobs are not going to fund this film. Not that we haven't tried, we’ve put in every penny we can afford, we have called in every last favor, we have begged, borrowed and ‘liberated for the cause’ and we have about half of what we need.

The rest is up to you. You get to write the end of this story.

WHO?

Ask Me Tomorrow Productions consists of David Olsen, Thomas Oldham and Paul Thorp. We are three friends who one day decided that what we all enjoyed was writing and producing entertaining things. Two-thirds of our merry band are graduates (David doesn't mind being left out) and two thirds are dyslexic as well (again David is out in the cold). Like we mentioned up there, we’ve made a few short films and a webseries called Ramblers. We are ordinary guys who just want to leave our mark on the world. Not in something boring like politics or medicine, but in the wondrous realm of film.

WHY?

We want to tell a funny story. We first had the idea for this film several years ago, but we were never sure how to write it. First it was going to be 15 minutes long, then 30 minutes, then an hour. Now we want to do something new. We want it to be a feature length film and we wish to showcase some of the incredible talent of the independent filmmaker community in and around Manchester. We're not just talking about ourselves here, but the incredible camera operators, sound designers and actors we have on board.

And we just really enjoy making films.

WHAT DO WE NEED?

A following and a little money.

We are going to make this film using a few thousand pounds and a handful of favours. We want to make the film look great and we want people to enjoy being involved. We want to pay our actors, pay our crew and travel around the country (and eventually the world) promoting the movie you helped us make. We want to make a film that people will be able to see around the world and we want as many people involved in the making of it as possible.

WHAT DO YOU GET?

Not only do you get to help us realise a dream, but we have some cool stuff that we'll be giving away as perks! Want a copy of the movie? There's a perk for that! Want a signed copy of the script? There's a perk for that too! What? You want our fictional villain's very own telescope? Of course! There's a perk for that! Oh come on now. You want what? A speaking role in our movie? Let me just look and see... WE HAVE A PERK FOR THAT TOO!

Besides the stuff you get for the perks, we will also have regular updates here on Indiegogo so you can track just how far we're getting and what we're achieving with your contributions.
